World’s Largest Battery?

Pumped storage facilities provide the unique capability to generate &

use power on command.

For example, when solar is creating more power than customers are using in the

middle of the day, Bath County can pump water to balance demand.

At 3,003 Megawatts, Bath County is the largest pumped storage

facility in the world, even before other large facilities in China & Japan.

Although many energy storage technologies are being considered,

Bath County is a unique, cost-effective storage technique that is

already being utilized.
