• Volunteer New York is a leading volunteer agency located in Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties that surround New York City.

• Volunteer New York believes that everyone has something to offer, no matter where you stand in life or what your background is - there are always ways you can help.

• Volunteer New York’s mission is to “inspire, mobilize, and equip individuals and groups to take positive action to address pressing challenges, support nonprofits and strengthen the quality of life in our community,” (volunteernewyork.org).

• Thus, this nonprofit organization runs on volunteerism in its surrounding communities by encouraging community members to serve while building character, bonding with others, and developing strong leadership skills.

• Through organized projects, Volunteer New York is able to help communities grow in a variety of ways.

• In 2014, over 240,000 hours of community service were devoted to 500 different nonprofit organizations, collectively raising more than $7.2 million.
