The ABCDEFG’s of the Rotary Foundation A Annual Fund

(AF)

The Foundation’s “Current account”; TRF invests for 3 years then makes 100% available to

District 7710. A Sustaining member gives $100 or more each year to the Annual Fund B Benefactors

and

Bequest

Society (BS)

Benefactors give to Endowment Fund or include in their will a donation to the Rotary

Foundation of a minimum of $1,000.

For the Bequest Society, the minimum amount for inclusion in the will is $10,000 with six levels

of recognition up to $ 1 million. A painless way to support the Rotary Foundation

RI has identified 6 areas of focus for Global grants and linked the important criteria of

Sustainability. These 6 are:- Peace and conflict Resolution; Disease prevention and

treatment; Water and sanitation; Maternal and child health; Basic education and

literacy; and Economic and community development.

There is a separate Rotary Peace Center Fund. Goal $150m by 2017. $124 million raised

so far.

PolioPlus: Rotary is part of the recently announced Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI)

which is financed by a wide range of public and private donors, who help meet the costs

(estimated at $5.5 billion) of the Initiative’s eradication activities to finish the job of removing

the scourge of polio from earth. The Bill Gates Foundation has challenged Rotary to bring $35

million to the table. When we do, the Gates Foundation will put in an additional $70 million.

Charitable Remainder Unit Trust (CRUT) a trust that reverts to TRF on death and gives an

annual income based on value at year-end and a tax offset on donations.

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust (CRAT). Similar to CRUT but annual payouts are for a

fixed amount.

Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) minimum age 50. Minimum $10,000 3% for a 50 year old to

more than 7% for a person of advanced years.

Avoid the capital gains tax. Write some of the donation off against this year’s taxes and turn

some low dividend assets into a life time income that could be 5% or more a year. A true Win-

Win-Win situation.

Charitable Lead Trusts.(CLT) They pay the Charitable Organization $$ now, and then

revert back to the donor after say 15 years.

Goals: Ways to contribute. Recognition (PHF, Major Donors- points system) Doing good in the

world; using our individual donations to achieve collective action.

Donor Advised Fund; If you own assets that have increased in value since you acquired them

and you are facing a capital gains tax bill if you liquidate them for cash, here is an alternative.

Consider using Rotary’s Donor Advised Fund (DAF). E EREY

Endowment

Fund (EF)

Every Rotarian Every Year; Direct transfer $8.34/month less than a premium coffee a week. Or

ask to have $25 added to you quarterly Club dues. The Foundation’s Endowment Fund.

Through direct donations and inclusion of Rotary as tax-efficient Estate planning, to help the

Endowment Fund move past its total of $1 billion. It is estimated that $3 trillion will transfer

from the Baby Boomers. F Foundation Mission: “to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through

the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.” The

Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions for
