compilation of food composition data in Indonesia,

Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam

" focused on developing a system for quality

evaluation of FCT/FCDB

! System was based on 12 criteria and several sub-

criteria

! Used to evaluate 8 existing FCT/FCDs from 5 countries

! Based on the evaluation, challenges and issues within

each country and across the countries which

participated were identified

! There was a general consensus that the nutrients

covered in the FCTs was a major limitation14

! Participants also selected and prioritized the list of nutrients which are commended to be included in the national FCDB

! In cognizance of the current health problems and issues, there was general consensus that data for the following priority nutrients are needed" fatty acids (saturated, polyunsaturated,

monounsaturated) and total sugars
