Storage Ideas for Fruit and Veggies During
Summer
You can store your fresh vegetables and fruits in the refrigerator with high grade Plastic
Containers and Acrylic Storage Containers. They remain fresh for at least a weak in them and
can help you plan your Break Fast, Lunch and Dinner accordingly.
To avoid throwing it out, it’s important to know where and how to store fruits and vegetables and
also which foods to keep separate from each other.
Here is a guide that will help you store your Veggies and Fruit better
Fruit’s
1. Apples – They are ethylene gas producers therefore store away from other fruits. They can be stored for more than a week with or without using a container.
2. Avocados – Can store in refrigerator for long. 3. Bananas – Better to store them outside the refrigerator. 4. Berries – All type of berries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries are delicate
and should be stored dry in covered air tight plastic containers. 5. Cherries & Grapes – Place them in refrigerator, unwashed, in their plastic containers. 6. Citrus Fruit – Extend the shelf life of grapefruit, lemons, limes and oranges by peeling and storing
them high grade plastic container. 7. Melons – Keep cut water melon and musk melon for long in the fridge with air tight plastic
containers. 8. Tomatoes – Always store them in refrigerator. Keep loose in a plastic container away from sun or
heat (like the stove.)
Vegetables
1. Broccoli & Cauliflower – Cut and keep broccoli or cauliflower, unwashed in a plastic container 2. Celery – Store in the refrigerator with a high grade quality container.. 3. Corn – Store in the refrigerator inside a plastic container. 4. Cucumbers – Store at room temperature. Can be kept in the refrigerator for 1 to 3 days if they
are used soon after removal from the refrigerator. 5. Green Beans – Store in the refrigerator for long 6. Leafy green vegetables – Greens like lettuce, collards, chard, kale, and spinach can be stored in
the refrigerator in air tight c 7. Onion Family – Store garlic and ginger in a dark and dry space but separate from other foods
because of their strong odors. Cut and keep in plastic container and store it for long. 8. Mushrooms – Keep unwashed in a container separate refrigerator. 9. Peppers – Store at room temperature or in fridge they are used soon after removal from the
refrigerator. 10. Root Vegetables – Root vegetables like carrots, beets, in the refrigerator. Store potatoes, sweet
potatoes and squashes in a dark and dry place.
