This new form ofmanufacturing allows for

innovation as far as a mindcan dream, and it’s

fascinating to see whatnew business ventures or

I’ve decided to create anongoing series on interesting

Food Ink. is a restaurant. Yes,a restaurant is on my radaras a 3D printing innovator. That’s because Food Ink is

the first 3D printingrestaurant in the world.

Everything, the decor, thecutlery, and of course the

food is created through 3Dprinting technology.

The pop-up restaurant, based out of Shoreditch,

London is a futuristic,revolutionary dining

experience.

Founders, AntonyDobrzensky and Marcio

quirky concept into a reality.

With their team, they weredetermined to combine theemerging technology with

their passion and curiosity.

The quote they use on theirwebsite,

from magic”-Arthur C. Clarke.

At Food Ink. it seems that thefood itself is not the true

focal point of the restaurant.Instead, it’s the process. Inthe Food Ink. space, diners

get to print (and customize)their meals themselves.

The food is pumped out by amulti-material 3D printer

called the ByFlow. It hasmultiple, easily-

interchangeable printer-heads that make food

printing possible.

The printers take softerfoods (hummus, chocolate, etc) and create beautiful,

intricate designs on platesfor the diners. So, it’s not like

whole chickens are beingprinted before the diners’

eyes.

But the owners’ desire was todraw attention to all of the

possibilities that technologyprovide.

Right now, the restaurantcontinues to operate in a

relatively exclusive pop-upstyle, but it’ll be interesting

to see what comes of thisfantastic idea.
