A super cool presentation
What makes a good website good?
Layout• C
olour scheme – should be only a few colours (apparently around three) and easy on the eyes.
• Alignment – the sections, images and textboxes on the site should be
aligned properly. It’s hard to look at wonky things.• S
ize of the sections and pages should be a reasonable size. Not too big. You shouldn’t have to scroll for ages to get to the bottom of the page.
• Logos and images shouldn’t either be too small or too big.
• Text and images should not overlap.
• Distance between images so they’re not too close together, no blue outlines.
• No flashing images or GIFs (pronounced GIF not JIF, thanks.)
Layout – the continued saga: clarity.Don’t have too many flashy things.
Keep on topic. Don’t ramble on about unrelated things.
Navigation• M
enus should be easy to read.• U
ser-friendly.• A
ttractive.• S
houldn’t be cluttered.• M
enus labeled clearly.• O
ne navigation menu throughout the whole site, so consistent navigation.• P
age should not take too long to load.
So keep image file sizes down.• N
ormal mouse, and no moo-ing.
Text• L
inks should not be blue and you should only underline a word if it is a link or people will get confused.
• Fonts should be easy to read.
• Not too many fonts. No clusters of fonts.
• T
ext should not be obnoxiously big or microscopically small.
• The colour of text should not clash with the background, and there
probably shouldn’t be too many different text colours.• D
O NOT USE COMIC SANS. • D
on’t centre your text.
