What is a friendship?

Before we start, let’s have a little talk about friendship. What do you think friendship is?

Page 3: Friendship rules

Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between two or more people. Let’s work on this in detail.

“Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between two or more people.”

This explains how friendship is formed. When you have something in common with someone, you start talking with them, and get closer to them than you are to others.

Just like the lesson we studied about 2 weeks ago (Family rules), there can be friendship rules too as it’s considered as “relationship”.We have listed the two main rules of friendship:

- Honesty- Support

Page 5: Friendship rules

Honesty - Bilegjargal• First of all, you have to be honest to each other. That is the core of friendship. In other

words, friendship relies on honesty to stand. Why? Let’s say an example.

Friend “A” took a toy gun from friend “B”. Friend “B” was confused about where his toy gun was. He asked if friend “A” had seen his toy gun, but he said he hadn’t seen it anywhere. But later friend “B” found out that friend “A” had taken his toy gun, so friend “B” stopped trusting his friend. And soon they stopped being friends. After some time, friend “A” wanted to be come friends again with friend “B”, he accepted but he doesn’t trust friend “A” much anymore.

Trust is something that can’t be easily restored. Friends have to trust each other to be friends. That way, friendship can work very well.

Support - Otgonbayar• Another main rule of friendship is: support.

Just like how friendship relies on trusting each other, friendship highly relies on supporting as well. If you don’t support your friend, it will be hardly called a friendship.

Let’s say that there were 2 friends, and one of them never helped the other one but still called him his “friend”. But his friend needed help and the other one didn’t even care about it. And the victim was so upset. He stopped caring about the other friend, stopped trusting him, thus ruining their communication.

In addition - Saranzul

• In addition, there are many things that you can do to improve your friendship. These are in an exception, because these aren’t counted as rules, more like something that can be a big impact to your friendship by improving it.

Having the same opinions - Maralgoo

• This helps you communicate with your friend by giving your communication more subjects, so that you can talk about it with your friend anytime. Probably it can start as just a random talk but can become a discussion at the end.

Understand each other – Tugst.• This might sound like a rule of friendship, but it isn’t in the same

level as honesty and support since this subject is under the category: “honesty”.

When you try to understand your friend, you can find out his/her problem and help her/him solve it. Then your friend will be extremely happy about it, and be even more open-hearted with you.
