Junk foods typically contain high levels of calories from sugar or fat with little protein, vitamins or minerals.

Foods commonly considered junk foods include salted snack foods, gum, candy, sweet desserts, fried fast food, sugary carbonated beverages.

FAST FOODFAST FOOD

Fast food is the term given to food that can be prepared

and served very quickly, first popularized in the 1950s in

the United States. While any meal with low preparation time can be considered to be fast food, typically the

term refers to food sold in a restaurant or store with preheated or precooked

ingredients, and served to the customer in a packaged form for take-out/take-away

Fast food outlets are take-away or take-out providers, often with a "drive-through" service which allows customers to

order and pick up food from their cars, but most also have indoor and/or outdoor seating areas in which the customers

can eat the food on-site.

In an attempt to reduce saturated fat consumption, from December 2011 – November 2012 Denmark had introduced the first fat-food tax in the world by imposing a surcharge on

all foods (including natural ingredients) that contain more than 2.3 percent saturated fat. Hungary has also imposed a

tax on packaged foods that contain unhealthy concentrations, such as beverages containing more than

20 mg of caffeine per 100 ml.
