INSIDE LOOK AT FOOD MARKETS

Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by a business to
contribute to economic development while improving the quality of the
community that they service.
CSR AFFECTS ALL ASPECTS OF THE FOOD MARKET INDUSTRY INCLUDING THE PRODUCTION,DISTRIBUTION AND
SALE OF FOOD.
Food is one of the only things we all consume on a daily basis, hence we
should be conscious of the quality of the products we are putting into our body.
WITH THE FOOD MARKET INDUSTRY’S HIGH LEVEL OF COMPETITION, RETAILERS SHOULD STRIVE TO EARN OUR BUSINESS BY OFFERING HIGH QUALITY
PRODUCTS HARVESTED USING CSR.
“Corporate sustainability can’t be something that is done
haphazardly. It’s time for companies to start
changing the way they approach business and put corporate
sustainability at the forefront of everything they do.”
Inside look at Food Markets’ research was done through the comparisons of various
grocery markets such as Kroger, Trader Joe’s, Walmart and Whole Foods.
We conducted our research by directly referencing company websites and
articles written in response to company actions associated with CSR.
We based our website design on a socially conscious and responsible
audience by using a green theme and photos of health conscious food.
You can view the work we have created by following our website.

The main goal of our blog is to educate and inform society about the companies
in the food markets and their socially responsible actions.
Having Wordpress be our required blog platform, we were able to chose a theme that closely fit with the green layout we
were striving for.
IT WAS OUR GOAL TO MAKE OUR BLOG VISUALLY APPEALING AND RELEVANT TO
THE CONTENT OF OUR BLOG.
We did this by keeping a consistent theme throughout our site design, social
media platforms and individual blog
The blog proved to be successful and functional throughout the course of the
project because the individual blog posts were relevant, consistent and
well-written.
We drew attention and traffic to our blog through social media platforms including
Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest

Social Media is not about the exploitation of
technology, but service to community
We used Twitter to post relevant articles related to our blog posts as well as post
the link to our blog to inform our followers about our most recent posts.
We also used Facebook to notify our followers about new blog posts as well as post articles that relate to each days blog
content
We were able to use the admin panel on Facebook to see how many people were viewing our posts so we could see what our followers were interested and cater our posts based on those interests to
direct more traffic to our blog.
We attempted to use Pinterest to post content about healthy food and
exemplary examples of CSR within the food market industry.
However, we had a difficult time using Pinterest because none of us have used it before and we felt like “pinning” was not completely relevant to our blog and what
we stand for.
OVERALL THE PROJECT AND THE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS THAT WE CHOSE TO
USE WERE A SUCCESS
We were all able to work well together, contribute to our blog and social media platforms on time as well as learn more
about the food market industry and inform others about issues and good
examples of CSR.
We had both positive and negative experiences with this project.
POSITIVES
• Efficiently reached out to our audience by boosting our platforms to many people
• Delivered quality and reliable information about food markets and CSR based on the in depth research that we conducted for our blog
• Most social media outlets are well followed based on our outreach to people we know.
• We followed the schedule and posted on time
NEGATIVES
• We couldn’t use Pinterest very effectively
• We had a stressful experience learning how to properly use a blog and design a website because none of us are very good at web design, making even the simplest tasks like making sure a new post publishes something that could be difficult
• We were limited with the free themes that we could use
We would do most things the same, except for the use of Pinterest and
increase the frequency of posts on our social media to direct more traffic and
put out more information
What we took away…
BLOGGING AND WEBSITE DESIGN IS INTRICATE AND CAN BE A TEDIOUS
PROCESS.
But we were able to effectively communicate with each other to
communicate our vision as well as organize our blog and social media.
Communication is key while working in a group but we were able to mitigate the
issue by keeping in contact through Facebook group chat and meeting
frequently to discuss everyones individual talents and to conquer the
work.
WE WERE ABLE TO LEARN HOW TO CRAFT A VISUALLY APPEALING
PRESENTATION, SOCIAL MEDIA AND A WEBSITE SPECIFICALLY CREATED FOR
THE GREEN THEME WE WERE GOING FOR
Which allowed us to become more familiar with how to create visually
appealing presentations and websites, something that we will all use in the real
world.
Most importantly, we were able to do a lot of work in a team and were able to
learn from each other.
THANKS FOR A GREAT SEMESTER!
