gases.4. Industrial wastes etc…

Electrical & Electronic wastes

ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC WASTES

Electrical waste-Electronic waste

Wastes from electrical equipments like

Cables, circuits etc

Wastes from electronic equipments like

cellphones,pc’s,mp3 players etc

Page 5: Think green - Environmental Safety and Awareness

When electrical wastes come?

PRODUCTION> REQUIREMENT=WASTE

Page 6: Think green - Environmental Safety and Awareness

“WHERE DOES WE PLACE THE WASTES”?

•Dumping in rivers.•Land filling.•Burning.

Page 7: Think green - Environmental Safety and Awareness

“DUMPING IN RIVERS”

• Electronic &Electrical wastes when dumped into rivers, the water gets polluted due to the presence of elements like lead,

mercury etc in those goods.

Page 8: Think green - Environmental Safety and Awareness

“LAND FILLING”

• Dumping of wastes such as electrical & electronic goods or any other wastes on ground can be said as “LAND FILLING”

Page 9: Think green - Environmental Safety and Awareness

“BURNING”

• The e-wastes when burnt after dumping on ground leads to emission of toxic gases.

oMercuryoLead

oCadmiumoHexavalent chromium

oOther hazardous materials

NOTE: Maximum contribution of these materials should be only 0.1% by weight.

“What’s the stuff in those e-wastes”…?

CONTROL OF ELECTRICAL WASTE• Install CFL and LED bulbs• Unplug cell phone chargers when finished– Many devices still drain electricity when plugged in

• Install motion detector light switches– Great for classrooms, hallways, offices

• Use task-specific lighting as needed– Use lamps instead of overhead lights for entire area
