NATURE IN TURKEY• Turkey is a peninsula surrounded by the
Mediterrenean Sea, the Eagean Sea and the Black Sea. It also has an inland sea. ( the Sea of Marmara )
• It is a young country jeologically. However, it has wide range of land forms.
• The height is rising form west to the east.
• It has rich forests especially in the north and in the south.
• It has many lakes. The biggest one is The Lake Van with small islands on it.
• It has many rivers. You can do rafting on some of them.
• The dams on these rivers are also important for producing electricity of the counrty and irrigation of farm products.
• There are also many waterfalls such as Düden and Manavgat.
• Caves are another natural beauty of the counrty.
• There are huge stalactites, stalagmites and columns in these caves. Some of them are open to health tourism for asthmatic people.
PAMUKKALE• Pamukkale; meaning ‘cotton castle’ in
Turkish, is a natural site in the southwestern
Turkey.• It contains hot springs and travetines,
terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water.
• It is in the Inner Aegean Sea Region which has a temperate climate for most of the year.
CAPPODOCIA• It is a historical region in the Central Anatolia
(Turkey) .• The region was characterized by fairy
chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage.
• It was also home to Christian philosophy from the 4th century to the Byzantine time.
AYDER PLATEAU• It is in the eastern part of the Black Sea
Region and 1350 metres.• It is one of the touristic destination.• Tourists can enjoy beautiful views of
waterfalls, plateau houses, flowery hills and taste the special honey to the region there.
ULUDAĞ• In Turkish, Uludag means "Sublime
Mountain“.• It is a mountain in Bursa Province ofTurkey
with an altitude of 2,543 m.• It is a popular center for winter sports such
as skiing, and a national park of rich flora and fauna. Summer activities, such as trekking and camping, also are popular.
• The Turkish Riviera is a term to define the provinces that have a favorable climate, warm sea, more than a thousand kilometers of shoreline along the Aegean and Mediterranean waters.
• Abundant natural and archeological points of interest makes this part of Turkey's coastline a popular national and international tourist destination.
• The Turkish Riviera is also the home for the internationally-known Blue Voyage.
TURKISH RIVIERA
ENDEMIC PLANTS • As you know endemic means ‘peculiar to a
particular area or region; not found in other places’.
• Turkey has 3.000 endemic plants. Here are some of them.
• Turkish sweetgum: It includes sweetgum oils.
