KBCSD’s Mission is to support the balance between

common interests of business, government and local

society to promote the principals of SD and CSR in

Kazakhstan, to promote business as a leader of

environmentally effective innovations and local

community development.

Regional Member of WBCSD; founded in 2003; unites

19 the largest companies and enterprises of mining

and metallurgy, power and energy, oil and gas,

chemistry, machinery and cement industries, as well

as environmental consultancy and service companies

with over 100 thousand employees in total.

KBCSD members consider high standards for IPPC

and sustainable development as an integral part of

their business activity.

A Member of the Working Groups for Green Economy Development in Kazakhstan under

the President of the Republic Kazakhstan:

Green Growth Economy Concept Development for Kazakhstan (2012-2013).

Expo-2017 Concept of Alternative Energy development in Kazakhstan (2014).

GHG National Trade Platform development and implementation in Kazakhstan (since 2012).

Energy Efficiency Audit and ISO 50001 Energy Management System implementation in

Kazakhstan (since 2012).

Knowledge transfer and Awareness workshops and training seminars for industrial enterprises

implementation (since 2004).

A Member of Expert Councils of the following Ministries: Ministry of Energy and

Environmental Protection, Ministry of Investments and Development, Ministry of Economy,

Ministry of Labor and Social Defense, Ministry of Innovations and New Technologies.

KBCSD experts and member companies annually review over 500 draft legal and technical

documents prepared by the government related to industrial activities.

KBCSD supports numerous conferences and programmes, including:

The 6th Ministerial Conference “Environment and Development” of Asia-Pacific Region

countries (Astana, 2010);

The 7th Conference of the ministers “Environment for Europe” (Astana, 2011);

Global Summit Rio+20 (Rio de Janeiro, 2012);

Green Bridge Initiative (Astana, 2013);

Central Asia Programme on Leadership on Environmental Protection for Sustainable

Development (as a partner for Central Asia Regional Environmental Center, CAREC (since

2010);

Annual International Exhibition on Environmental Technologies and Services “EcoTech”

(Almaty, from 2004) and Conferences on Green Growth (2012), Waste Management

(2013), Circular Economy and Wastes 3R (2014); Waste management infrastructure

development of in Kazakhstan (2015);

KBCSD’s Journal “Ecology and Industry of Kazakhstan” (ISSN 2311-536X) is a

quarterly-based issue of expert reviews, best practices, and research, published together

with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Ministry of Energy since 2004.

The State Program for Innovative Industrial Development of Kazakhstan for 2015 - 2019,

approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan from August 1,

2014, № 874.

Regional clusters are geographically concentrated groups of interrelated and

complementary companies and organizations, which includes manufacturers of final or

intermediate goods and services, equipment suppliers, specialized infrastructure services

providers, scientific, research, education and other organizations with a specific industry

focus.

Ministry for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the

authorized body for The Programme implementation.

Governmental Commission on Industrial Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan - is

an advisory body established to develop strategy in the field of industrial development of

the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Cluster associations are legal entities representing the interests of all participants of the

clusters (at first stage - Regional Chambers of entrepreneurs and/or business

associations).

Branch territorial cluster;

The presence of a concentrated group of interrelated and complementary

specialized companies and organizations (at least 10 not affiliated legal

entities);

The presence of developed projects aimed at lengthening the technology

chain;

Partnership relations outside the territorial cluster and cluster potential for

further international grow;

Investments availability for the development of territorial cluster.

◦ Raw materials and natural resources (land and water);

◦ Human resources with the required level of qualification;

◦ Production capacity of enterprises to create a process chain and the necessary

related services;

◦ Development of innovation infrastructure (technology parks, technology transfer

centers, etc.);

◦ Availability of educational, scientific and research infrastructure and competencies

relevant and potentially significant for the development of territorial cluster;

◦ International relations and integration into the international supply chain;

◦ Availability of financial resources.
