WHAT IS POLLUTION? Environmental pollution
can be defined as an undesirable change in the physical, chemical or biological characteristics of the air, water or land that can affect human health.
TYPES OF POLLUTION:
Air PollutionDue to various human activities
mainly transportation and industries the air gets polluted.
Some of the major air pollutants are :
A) Carbon dioxide
B) Carbon monoxide
C) Acidic gases
D) Smoke
E) Metallic Particles
Air pollution causes Acid Rain.
WATER POLLUTION Water is a renewable natural resource, yet its
uneven distribution has made its availability scarce.
The sources of water pollution are classified as:
A) Point SourcesB) Non-Point sources
Major cause of land pollution is ‘littering’ and ‘improper disposal of solid waste’.
Solid waste can be classified as bio-degradable or non-biodegradable.
A)Biodegradable waste being of plant or animal origin decomposes easily and does not cause pollution.
B)Non- Biodegradable waste such as glass, plastics and metals does not decompose and lies around for a long time causing land pollution.
Land Pollution
NOISE POLLUTION:Noise Pollution is another kind of Pollution that affects our health.
