“How does the milk production in the Israel Holstein-Friesian cow correlate with its age???”

Hypothesis:

Milk production in Holstein-Friesian dairy cows correlates positively with the age up to a maximum and there after a negative correlation occurs.

Main objective

To determine, the correlation between the age and milk production in Holstein-Friesian dairy cows.

Other objectives

the age at which Holstein-Friesian cows first calve down daily average maximum milk production per cow age at which a Holstein Friesian cow reaches its highest peak in milk production.

GIVAT HAYYIM DAIRY FARM. meuhad Kibutiz over 480 lactating Holstein Friesian cows on this farm.

sample space, 40 cows (partriated in a month's time)

Randomly selected.• fed at the same time,

same type and proportion of feed,

• same milker, milking machine and time of milking.

• for 30days - daily data collection.

Conclusion

• Milk yield in Holstein-Friesian dairy cows correlates positively with the age up to a maxmum and there after a negative correlation occurs at the age of 4-5 years.(polynomial relationship)

Recommendations.

• Attention to fertility

• Grouping animals ( maturity time)

• Culling older animals (after 4-5 calving)

• Proper management practice (Feeding, health care for early maturity.
