Whatever It Takes: An Alphabetacy

(1) Next Class

Now that I have a Legacy and an apocalypse challenge done, it’s time to move on to the final legacy-based challenge of the Sims 2 that I will get around to complete: an alphabet legacy. Including the founder, that’s 27 generations of a single theme. For mine, I’ve chosen Degrassi as the theme because the entire franchise has tons of names I can power through.

Couple things to keep in mind that will make this different from an alphabet legacy back ten years ago: (1) no simselves will marry in and (2) heirs will not be voted for. These were all and good gameplay elements back when the community was more active, but until then it just makes more sense to play and update on my own.

Every good legacy starts with a founder, and here is my third published one: Canadian Degrassi.

“As opposed to what other kind, eh?”

Canadian is a scorpio (8/3/9/3/2) and a fortune sim who wants to own 5 top level businesses. His turn-ons are being high up in your career and fitness while his turn off is stink.

“You can really tell we’re in Canada on account of the hail.”

Even my apocalypse challenge didn’t get off to such a rough start. I forget that with seasons comes weather (I should have put the bed in a room, but I ran out of money).

“That’s okay, I forgive ya.”

You have two nice points; stop being so kind.

Page 5: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Canadian got a job in law because he can’t afford to start a business, at least not at this moment.

“Now that’s just not right. I can start a business from home.”

If you were a romance sim, maybe… have you woohoo anyone who comes by for gold stars.

Page 6: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

I deleted all of the townies in this neighbourhood and had the game generate 30 new ones. This one is named Jordan Collin. As you can tell by my ability to remember her name, she will be important later… you know… because wife.

“Maybe I can have an art studio and sell a few paintings.”

Maybe you can top your career first and then we’ll talk.

Page 8: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

So by she would be important later, I meant that within a week of in-game play, I finally called her back up to start up a romance. Most of the sims generated were all old ladies. Can’t exactly do anything with that… unless I cheated them back down to adulthood.

Jordan: Did you just pass gas?

Canadian: I live in a shack in the middle of nowhere, eh. Don’t expect much from me.

Page 10: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Thank you ACR for making legacies easier since whenever you were first released.

Jordan moved in with a good $13000 so I did a few upgrades to the house. No kid room yet, though.

Page 12: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

And I did a few upgrades to her. Jordan Collin:Leo (4/10/4/4/3)Popularity sim; wants 20 best friendsLikes underwear and hats but not swimwearWorking in the slacker career.

And that’s how Jordan became a Degrassi.

Page 16: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Of course, with alphabet legacies there are a few rules. Three kids minimum per generation (as opposed to 2 in a normal legacy) as well as twins every eighth generation or so (so generations H, P, and X).

Page 17: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Canadian: Honey, are you helping to make works for my art studio?

Jordan: Of course, dear.

Page 18: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Canadian: I can’t die yet; I’m the founder!

Page 19: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

And then Canadian left us alone…. To go to work. Jordan threw up because she managed to get pregnant. Good sim!

Jordan: This is awful.

Think of it as a new best friend.

Page 20: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Jordan: A new best friend, huh?

Well, one that will eventually hate your guts.

Page 21: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Jordan: I think I should take a break from painting.

Canadian: Nonsense; paint fumes are good for the fetus.

Page 22: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Jordan: Should I still be going to work like this?

If you mean in your underwear, no. I don’t know how you managed not to get fired.

Page 23: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

You guys know you can’t get pregnant right now. Why are you doing this?

Page 24: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Of course Jordan would go into labour while cooking food. Please don’t start a fire.

Canadian: I have experience with fires!

Starting them. You can’t seem to put one out to save your life.

And here is the first baby of the legacy: Adam Degrassi. Cancer (8/3/2/4/8).

Named for Adam Torres from seasons 10-13 of the third franchise (Degrassi: The Next Generation/Degrassi/Degrassi: Next Class). Adam is a female-to-male transgender student who transferred in at the start of tenth grade along with his older step-brother Drew because of being bullied. His main plots were about his inability to find a relationship because of being trans as well as harassment from other students. Eventually he found a stable relationship with Becky Baker, but died early into season 13 during an operation to stop the swelling in his brain as a result of a car crash because he was texting and driving. He was played by actress Jordan Todosey.

Page 26: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

And a baby means needing to upgrade the house! Second story!

Page 27: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

And I also need two more kids out of this generation to get things started!

Page 28: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Jordan: Is it weird that I have the same name as the actress who played you?

Adam: *drools*

Page 29: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Jordan: Crap; I don’t want to go into labour again.

Canadian: But we just spin out our babies.

Jordan: Yeah, well we don’t have actual sex either so take your non-existent dick and shove it up your non-existent ass.

Page 30: Whatever It Takes - (1) Next Class

Adam: *drools some more*

I feel like this is offensive because you were pretty much brain-dead in your final episode… oh well, toddler Adam! I will leave things here mostly because I finished playing at this point, but also because I want to take a bit longer with this challenge compared to the others. It will be much longer to play no matter what, but I feel like I tend to rush things and don’t get emotionally attached to my sims like other people do. I feel like both of my final chapters of my legacy and apocalypse didn’t really feel like proper endings and I want this one to feel right, if you know what I mean.
