Oczepiny – it is slovian custom that survived till today but in a changed form. Centuries ago the bride was taken to the small room. Old ladies cut her long hair and put on her head a special scarf which was a symbol of beeig married. Nowadays, during oczepiny, a bride, a groom and guests take part in more or less funny games.

Wedding superstitions

Guests throw rice or coins on just married. It

should bring them wealth and luck.

They should get married in the month with the letter R to have

lucky relationship.

The bride can not show her dress to the

groom before wedding it brings bad luck. She

should have something borrowed, blue and

new.

Throwing a veil or flowers

After midnight all unmarried women gather around the

bride who throws flowers. The one who catches the

bunch is said to get married during next 12 months.

Then the groom throws his tie and unmarried men try to

get it.
