The 2013 Operation Rising Star Competition is looking for talented vocalists, 18 years or older who are Active Duty, National Guard or Reserve from any branch of U.S. Service, or a Family Member with a valid military ID Card. Contestants will compete for 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($250) and 3rd Place ($100) with a chance to represent the Korean peninsula and participate at the Army-wide Finals for a Grand Prize professional recording studio experience valued at $18,700. Units and FRGs are also eligible to compete for $300 as "the best supportive unit or FRG" with prize winnings transferred to Unit or FRG funds.
