A Thriller is a genre of a film or piece of literature that many people often get confused with a horror; however, there are many differences; for example, a Thriller doesn’t always have to include violence or death. Although, A Thriller will often be based as an action film so it does usually include violence though it isn’t always necessary. Nearly every Thriller will include a large tension build up and create an atmosphere of suspense; in a film the music helps do this; They nearly all include at least one Hero and at least one Villain. The majority of Thrillers have a happy ending.

The Grey, staring Liam Neeson, is a film about a dramatic plane crash deep in the woods of Alaska; With only a handful surviving, they make the most out of the resources on the plane and head out in search of help; they find themselves caught in wolves territory and the story soon turns into a violent gory chase. Liam Neeson is the last man standing, and it ends on a cliff hanger of suspense as he is surrounded by the wolf pack armed with only a knife.

Staring Matt Damon, the Bourne Trilogy is based on a character Jason Bourne, an ex CIA assassin suffering from memory loss after a mission failure. The films show him trying to remember himself and what he did in the past, only he is being hunted down by the people who trained him as he is thought of as ‘too dangerous’. Surviving each assassination attempt, he goes on a killing spree receiving help from certain ex employees.

One of the most famous Thrillers of all time, this film is about violent and vicious shark attacks on a beach found on the Island of Amity; Staring Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw, They set out on an old fishing boat to hunt the giant great white shark that’s been terrorising Amity;

Liam Neeson is suited perfectly to Thriller films, he is taken very seriously, mainly due to the deep voice and tall figure. He usually stars as the hero of the story with the leading roll.

Matt Damon, he makes a very good actor to play in thrillers due to the serious expression he portrays, he also physically portrays the attributes of a hero who would be seen in a Thriller.

Kevin Spacey is a very good example of a actor used in Thriller films due to his very convincing psychotic expression. He has a calm and mature voice with an innocent face.
