Establishing tracking shot of the location allows the audience to familiarise with where the film is set and relate.

Page 3: Thor

The introduction of the main character is made suspenseful through the revelation of his shadow only, making more of an impact when the audience do finally meet hm.

The filler lighting creates more of an effect with the other surroundings being pitch black, indicating the remoteness of the place or willingness to keep it secret.

The scenery also shows that the location isn’t earth-like, contrasting with the first location shown in the trailer. From this the audience can expect a collision of two worlds and get an idea of the genre of conventions of films similar.

Page 4: Thor

Supernatural of alien-like themes are introduced with the collision of the unknown object with London.

The use of a famous location enhances audience reaction as feelings and associations can be made with places people are so familiar with.

At this point in the trailer, the audience will have already associated that its some kind of superhero, action or fantasy film. The revelation or the connection to Marvel now inform the audience that the film is related to comics, and therefore attracting people who are fans, and giving people more of an indication to what they can expect. From the

introduction of the Marvel association being almost half way into the trailer, than people who have negative stereotypes of comics, now have had the chance to decide from what they’ve already seen if they are attracted to it, therefore widening their audience.

The first introduction of the main character show him to be strong and masculine with the body language presented. The cape is also typical of a superhero and the armour suggest further strength and historical association.

His costume is different the traditional choice of clothing in England, therefore you can decide that he is out of is comfort zone and perhaps related to the previous supernatural features shown.

This establishing shot of the location occurs half way through the trailer, showing the contrast between the shot shown at the start. The audience is now clear that the film will cut between these two locations and will be a running theme.

This shot is typical of a fantasy film with the remoteness and unfamiliar shaped buildings. However, the beginning establishing shot shows a city and dull lighting, which contrasts with this and therefore the difference in the character depending on where they originate.

Page 8: Thor

The audience can expect the action of the film to occur in this setting, the pace of the trailer increases with sharp cuts between the different scenes.

The smoke and red light indicates danger and conflict which will give the audience an idea of what to expect. The location of a forest also increase the feeling of isolation and tension for the audience.

Page 9: Thor

The hero of the film is shown in the middle of the action, he stands out by his red cape, presumably used to draw association with super hero's.

The dark lighting and eerie setting through the smoke suit the scene of a war zone. We know they are in a battle through the continual conflict of others behind the main character while he acts heroicly and brings an end to the fight. These ideas can be assumed from the typical conventions of super hero/ fantasy films and the audience know that is what they can expect.

Page 10: Thor

The villain of the film is shown to have a disfigured face and dressed in full black. This contrasts with the hero’s red cape and blonde hair. The darkness immediately connects with evil and similarly to the audience expecting a good-looking hero, the villain is shown unattractively.

The large font show that the title of the franchise is ‘Thor’, however those who have seen the first one will know this is a sequel by the added text underneath, but also showing that the important part that people should remember is simply ‘Thor’.

A completely black background and flashes of lightning cement peoples idea of what the genre is as its now clear that not only is it a action/fantasy but also not light-hearted, or family-friendly.

It is made very clear when the film is coming out by the text dominating the screen, a theme is also kept with links to the title font.

There is also an option of social networking with a Facebook page, another form of how they are wishing to promote the film and keep an interest before it comes out.
