The Structure

• Each Episode starts with a title sequence stating ‘The Simpsons’ increasing in size amongst a blue sky and clouds. Establishing shots then set the scene and each character is designated a segment in the intro showing their personality. This is followed by credits. The Simpsons follows the Todorov theory as it starts with equilibrium, focusing on one character per episode, something then goes wrong and causes disequilibrium setting off a chain of events both the main and sub plots –anchored by the low bass and other non diegetic sounds.
