1962: The Rolling Stones established by founder, and later guitarist, Brian Jones, with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

1963: Bassist Bill Wyman and Drummer Charlie Watts become the two newest members, replacing Ian Stewart and Dick Taylor, completing the lineup.

1964: British Invasion. Release of debut album (titled The Rolling Stones in the UK and England’s Newest Hit Makers in the US) and follow-up album, 12 X 5.

1965: Release of The Rolling Stones No. 2, The Rolling Stones, Now!, Out of Our Heads and December’s Children (And Everybody’s).

1966: Release of Aftermath and Got Live If You Want It! 1967: Release of Between the Buttons, Flowers, and Their Satanic

Majesties Request. 1968: Jones is arrested twice for marijuana. Release of Beggars

Banquet.

1969: After only seven years with the Rolling Stones, Jones quits, and Mick Taylor is hired to replace him. Jones commits suicide in his pool right after midnight on Thursday, July 3, and is pronounced dead hours later. A two-day concert is dedicated to him on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5. Release of Let It Bleed.

1970: Release of Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out! The Rolling Stones in Concert. 1971: Jagger marries his sweetheart Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias.

Release of the first album to feature the tongue and lip logo, Sticky Fingers, and Hot Rocks 1964-1971.

1972: Release of Exile on Main St. and More Hot Rocks Big Hits & Fazed Cookies.

1973: Richards is arrested for marijuana, cannabis, and illegal revolver possession. Release of Goats Head Soup.

1974: Release of It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll. Mick Taylor leaves the band to pursue other interests.

1975: 28-year-old Ron Wood replaces Mick Taylor as the new guitarist.

1976: Release of Black and Blue. 1977: Richards is arrested for heroine possession in Toronto.

Release of Love You Live. 1978: Jagger and his wife Bianca file for divorce on

allegations of an affair with another woman, ending their seven year marriage. Release of Some Girls.

1979: Richards splits from his girlfriend of twelve years, Anita Pallenberg.

1980: Release of Emotional Rescue. 1981: Release of Sucking in the Seventies and Tattoo You. 1981/1982: Still Life Tour. 1982: Release of ‘’Still Life’’ (American Concert 1981).

1985: Ian Stewart dies of a headache at only 47. Release of Jagger’s first solo album She’s the Boss.

Roll Hall of Fame. 1989/1990: Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour. 1990: Jagger marries Jerry Hall. 1991: Release of Flashpoint. 1993: Wyman retires. 2011: Re-issue of Some Girls as double CD deluxe edition.

2012: The band announces a 50th anniversary tour for 2013, with a new compilation, GRRR! (released on Monday, 12 November), and prior tour dates set for 25 and 29 November 2012, at the O2 Arena in London, UK, and 13 and 15 December at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

2013: The band’s 50th anniversary tour kicks off with a concert in Hyde Park.
