The catalogue contains every amphora (fragment) present in the Liboni Amphora Collection. The

entries have been divided in two categories, which are also used on the attached CD-ROM containing

the photographs of the LAC: amphorae with confronti (sorted consecutively chronologically, by type,

by inv. nr.), and amphorae without confronti (sorted by inv. nr.).

Comments: Worn and damaged; very coarse, ‘Archaic’ fabric with many augite inclusions,

somewhat carinated shoulder (hardly distinguishable due to wear);

cylindrical/conical neck; straight, triangular rim, thickened on outside; slightly

beveled , convex lip; long, straight band-handles from shoulder to neck,

bending towards neck just below rim, oval in section

from shoulder to neck, ovoid/diamond-shaped in section

Description: Long, tapering spike; piriform/cylindrical body; carinated shoulder; long,

cylindrical neck; no rim present; long, straight band-handle right (handle is

loose fragment) from shoulder to neck, bending sharply towards neck just

below (missing) rim (neck is loose fragment)

Colors: Ext. 7.5YR 5/6 strong brown to 7.5YR 4/6 strong brown
