The Kingdom of Avonlea
Generation 2: Evidan Family Round 1
Dear Adrianna,
It was so wonderful to hear from you. Everything will work itself out. Don’t mind the talk.
I apologize for the delay in response, but as you’ve no doubt heard I’ve had quite a few
changes myself. Jon and I relocated on command of our King. Thorin, long may he
reign. He has need of Jon in the province of Khimore. He wishes for Jon to oversee
the entire region.
Now that you and I shall be living so much closer together, it is my greatest hope you
and I can arrange a visit. It has been far too long that we’ve been apart.
I confess, I’m still not accustomed to the
weather. The lightening storms frighten
me terribly. I hate being practically alone
in this castle on stormy nights.
I know the servants and my little Sam are about, but I
do so hate when Jon is away. I wish you could see him
Adrianna, he’s growing so quickly! I think he takes after
his father myself, but Jon refuses to hear it.
Ah my Jon! He completes his duties, and still he manages to find
the time for me and Sam. I know it’s not at all proper, but the
other day we actually had a pillow fight in the side garden. The
servants, bless them, they didn’t know what to think of us!
The most remarkable thing about Jon? He insists on helping me
clear away the dishes after meals. Even Lady Whendlan has
begrudgingly admitted he treats his lady like a princess.
You and your lord husband are always in my thoughts. I do so want
to know my dear friend is as happy as I.
I’ve taken to inviting Lady Whendlan to the manor as often as
possible of late. Her family has been in Whinmore for a century and I
was hoping to befriend her….alas I fear her family is as slighted by
the appointment of Jon to be overseer of Whinmore as the rumors
suggested.
The latest news is that she’s to be married to Pelleas Roth. How are the
Roth’s handling the idea of one of their sons marrying into a Matriarchy??
It’s a younger son, their third born if memory serves correctly, but Jon has
his doubts Lady Nimue in particular will react well to the news.
Hopefully, poor Fran won’t get stuck with more stress in her condition. Do
give her my best wishes!
I find Lady Brittany a bit difficult to socialize with myself. I am putting
forth as much of an effort as I can, but considering the circumstances
I cannot say her cool nature surprises me or even if I was in her
shoes if I’d want to be particularly friendly with me either.
Princess Galdariel and Master Ogden have become frequent
guests as well. I can tell you the two are very much in love with
each other. Whatever, little hiccup occurred at the wedding of
her brother seems to have passed completely out of her mind.
Master Ogden loves to visit the billiard room
during his visits. He and Jon can shoot those balls
into pockets for hours whilst Galadriel and take tea
in gardens or chat in the parlors.
The princess and I are becoming fast friends. She and
Lady Whendlan get along well enough, and she
tolerates me to play mahjong with them each Saturday,
but as I said earlier it’s doubtless we shall ever be
friends.
Lady Brittany did mention that your husband’s serf Gilbert called upon her to
congratulate her on behalf of your family on her engagement.
Given what I’ve observed, I would say your best bet at making a good impression upon
this woman would be to send Isabella to call in future, but alas I don’t know if you are in
position to speak with you Lord husband on such things. Or even if Isabella is in any
state to travel as far as Whinmore.
However, she was quite impressed with his knowledge of
gardening, and feels confident her plants will thrive
especially well this season thanks to his advice.
She asked that I pass on her gratitude.
Princess Galadriel also mentioned that I should pass
on her compliments to your family. She appreciated
Master Gable’s visit most heartily. He certainly has an
appetite! Whatever that means I cannot say.
Princess Galdariel has let it slip as well that Allyn Scrubb has come
to her house a few times. Poor thing is in the family way these days.
The princess just hasn’t the heart to throw the poor girl out.
I’m glad someone is offering her charity.
She admits she had to send the girl to the back to
get a bit of bread when her brother and his lady
wife and maid servant were calling.
Master Ogden, managed to keep young Sharla
quite perplexed. I’m told her reaction to a Lord
dining at a table with her at the back of the house
was comical to say the least!
Of course, Lady Galadriel is a princess. No doubt
even if she’d been caught looking after the poor
thing she could have made her excuses.
Oh and before I go I ran into Master Long at the Abbey. He sends his
compliments to you as well. His robes are the finest he has possessed in
years.
Wishing you all the best,
Anabel
