Texas Hold'em is a community card game where two cards are given to each player initially and five community cards are dealt on the table. Any of these five community cards may be utilized by the players to create the best possible five-card hand. Marker (Dealer Button The player holding the Marker is regarded as the Dealer and is dealt last, indicated by the placement of a Dealer Button. A Dealer button rotates around the table so each player is in the dealer's position once in a round. Small Blind/Big Blind Blinds are the minimum bets to start the round of play. Blind amounts are pre-set for that particular table where big blind is the minimum bet or progression for the round of play. Small blind is half of the big blind, which is only placed initially by the player playing on the left of the Dealer button. Texas Hold'em betting starts off with the first player to the left of the Button placing a small blind which is half the value of the Big Blind, and the second person to the left of the Button placing a big blind. When the blind bets are placed, the dealer deals two Hole Cards to each player in a clockwise motion. Consecutively a round of betting will commence for the remaining players on the table. The round of betting continues until all bets of the players in the game are equal. There is no check option in the pre-flop betting round, except for the big blind i.e. a minimum bet equivalent to the big blind is compulsory in the first round to stay in the game. The following is the actions that any player playing can take: The Flop: After all bets are placed, the 2nd round commences, in which the dealer will deal three community cards called the “Flop”. The flop can be used with the player's two cards in hand to create the best possible five-card hand. Thereafter, a second round of betting commences with the option for each player to Check, Bet/Raise, Call or Fold. The Turn: After all bets are placed (or a “Check” around), the 3rd round commences, in which the dealer will deal the fourth community card called the “Turn”. The turn card and the flop can be used with the player's two cards in hand to create the best possible five-card hand. Thereafter, the third round of betting commences. The River: After all bets are placed (or a “Check” around), the 4th and final round commences, in which the dealer will deal the fifth community card called the “River”. All these five community cards can be used by the player with the two cards in hand to create the best possible five-card-hand, and a final round of betting commences (or a “Check” around). Showdown: All the players remaining in the game will showdown their two cards in hand (player also has an option to “Fold”). The 2 cards in hand and the 5 community cards will create the best possible five-card hand, according to the “Ranking of Hands” displayed in the table below. The player with the highest ranking hand will win the pot. Suits are not used to break ties, nor are cards beyond the fifth; only the best five cards in each hand are used in comparison. In the event of a tie, the pot is split equally among the winning hands.
