Understanding RBP Figures

1. Population figure in thousands. This is the number of people who live

within that stations TSA (Transmitter Area), so are capable of listening to that

station.

2. Impacts in thousands. This is pairs of ears who have heard the bulletin.

It is not individuals who have heard as we could have hit the same pair of

ears more than once.

3. Reach in thousands. This is the number of individuals who actually

heard the bulletin.

4. Reach percentage. The percentage of the total population in the

listening area (TSA) who have heard the bulletin.

5. Average Frequency. This is the impacts divided by the reach, or how

often the people who did listen, heard the bulletin.

6. Base CPT (Cost per thousand). Radio air time is bought and sold by

CPT, as a five minute slot on 5Live will hit many thousand more people than a

slot on say Durham FM for example. This figure is for the base demographic

group.

7. Spots. The number of bulletins we had aired on that station.

8. Cost in pounds and pence. The cost of the bulletins if you had to buy

the airtime from the station.

2) SPORTSmedia COMMUNITY RADIO NETWORK

What are Community Radio stations?

Community radio offers a third model beyond commercial and public service. Community

stations are not-for profit and serve geographic communities and communities of interest

and are operated, owned, and driven by the communities they serve. Since the start of

autumn 2010, Sportsmedia has developed a network focusing in on the growing Community

Radio sector. This is becoming more prominent since the decision by Global Radio plc to

convert their locals into Heart and Capital brands.

The Sportsmedia Community Radio bulletin network is comprised of 59 stations and these are

provided with Mid-week bulletins for morning (AM) and drive-time (PM)..

This network was utilised for the campaign on the following dates.

The following is a list of the SPORTSmedia Community Radio Network stations,
