LADY GAGA - TELEPHONE FT. BEYONCÉ
By Farhannah and Dimple
POP
Pop music is short for popular music.By the early 1980s, the promotion of pop music had been greatly affected by the rise of Music Television channels like MTV, which favoured those artists such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince who had a strong appeal.
Pop music has been dominated by the American and British music industries
STAR IMAGE
The way the star wants to be presented to the
audience through their music video. This can be
shown through their clothes, make up, other artists
in the video or other props in the video.
Our first impressions of the star in this music video
were that she is very strange, out there, wears
provocative clothing, and is maybe a little anti-male.
The reason why we got these impressions were…
Cigarette sunglasses=strange
Provocative clothing=voyeurism, makes you want to watch
In chains, maybe to symbolise that she is out of control
All females but they’re not typical females, very masculine= anti-male yet Lagy GaGa is seen to be very feminine in large heels
US flag, very patriotic
Very revealing clothing=voyeurism they’re in the middle dancing, all eyes on them
Voyeurism, in the foreground
Using Beyonce in the video appeals to Beyonce’s audience as well as Lagy Gaga’s audience and gives her credibility
She is taking a male’s phone (what seems to be a male) she has the upperhand over the male= feministic attitudes
Does a dance=strange, confident, arrogant
INTERTEXTUALITY
Throughout the video they are driving the ‘Pussy
Wagon’, enforces their feministic attitudes.
INTERTEXTUALITY CONTINUED
The two artists in this video are seen to be very
high maintenance as throughout the video there is
constant reference to branded objects. For example,
there is constant reference to virgin media, LG,
Beats by Dre laptop,
