Target Audience and Research

• 15 and over

• Art and film Students

Costume & PropsThe costumes that we thought about for the main character are quite plain clothes to demonstrate her isolated personality. A character with a plan face, no make up, no bright colours would be suitable to do this.

The police outfit would be for the police men who turn up outside the house. As the film is on a budget a fancy dress police man outfit would probably be bought at a cheap price.

The blackberry or iphone will be used for the phone swapping and this is an easy prop to get hold of as all of the directors own one.

The laptop will be used when the main character is researching people in a scene. One of us will probably lend the laptop for filming.

Synopsis -

A young adult/teenager gets her phone taken of her without her realising. When she gets home from work she realises her phone is missing. She plans on calling the phone company and getting a new phone sorted but before this happens she receives a package in the post. It contains her phone with a posted note on it saying ' check your photos '. She either sees herself being murdered or her dying surrounded by people in the street trying to help her - a weird vision of something that is going to happen to her in the future. The next picture says- ‘this is you in ten days time '. Then montages and shots of her trying to find the place where she was in the video/picture and trying to trace the people who were in it via facebook, computers etc. End shot through a fish eyed lens of her looking through a peep hole to see two policemen or one of the characters we saw with her when she was dead at the door of her home.

Genre conventionsThriller/Crime/Indie

The main elements of a thriller is suspense, tension and excitement. Thrillers heavily stimulate the viewer's moods such as; a high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, anxiety, suspense, excitement, tension, terror. Literary devices such as red herrings and cliff-hangers are used extensively. The cover-up of important information from the viewer and fight/chase scenes are common methods in all of the thriller subgenres, although each subgenre has its own characteristics and methods.

Common methods in crime thrillers are mainly ransoms, captivities, heists, revenge, kidnappings.

In our film we are sticking to the conventions of suspense and anticipation when the girl finds the unknown videos on her stolen phone. The fact that the videos are so unexpected also show the uncertainty convention and the tension because she doesn’t know what to do and she only has a few days until the videos turn into her in real life. We aim to keep the audience on the edge of their seats when watching the teaser and anticipating what will happen to her and if the videos actually turn into reality.

By using interesting shots and montages with inspiration from films like Trainspotting we also want to make it look quite artistic which will appeal to an even wider audience

Locations

Trelick Tower near Portobello

•Using it as a prime location as we will be able to get high angle shots

•Will create a dark, spooky atmosphere creating anticipation for the audience

Page 11: Teaster tralier powerpoint.[1]

Our second location will be in a dark room, using her laptop/computer as the main source of light. This is to create an isolated atmosphere away from reality which depicts her personality

Using similar light to this but from her laptop to just highlight her face
