Indoors, empty corridor

In this hallway, in the recording it seems to have an echo and sound louder, this seems to be because of the walls, refraction is what makes it seem louder, the walls and floor seeming to have properties that make the refraction possible. Furthermore with the echoing this means either the floor or walls are reflecting the sound waves. Heat also factors into meaning the decibel (loudness) so the heat from the lights could have possibly affected how loud it sounded.

The lights could affect the number of decibels.

The brick walls could affect the reflection of the sound meaning there will be an echo.

Outside

We did the recording under the canopy to the left of the screen. There is a slight echo from being underneath the canopy as the metal and plastics could have reflected the sound. Furthermore I think that this caused the refraction of the sound and also there was a raise in decibels because of the cold air.

The canopy affected the sound in different ways.

The cold air changed the number of decibels of the recording.

Elevator

In this one what happened was because of the glass it helped to add a refraction and because of the enclosed space the decibels were a lot higher.

Canteen

With this there was a lot of background noise because of the place where we did the recording so people can be heard in the background. There was no refraction or echo and the decibels were the same, although it may have seemed quieter because of other loud noises such as people talking.
