Plot My film is based on the idea that in the moments of death your life flashes before you’re eyes. My

film is based in the middle of a zombie apocalypse where we see the main character is dying and is spending his last moments falling in-between the hallucinations of his former life and the situations which are unfolding around him. One moment in the story he kills a zombie which was an old friend of his and is then abruptly interrupted when he is attacked from the side and has a chunk of his neck and finger bitten off. After killing the zombie which attacked him he finally dies and the screen cuts to black. I want to focus on the typical codes and conventions of a zombie movie with the focus being on the character, and relying on the make-up and special effects to create the horror much like in George A Romero’s earlier films. I want to create an idea of loneliness in death and focus on how realistic the main character is which is where the drama from the story comes from.

TARGET AUDIENCE Because of my films graphic content I will be making the film for a mostly

older audience from the range of 15 – 30 year old males. These are typically the kind of audiences that see horror films and enjoy drama with relatable characters and stories. I also chose this audience over a much younger audience because they may find some of the images in the film disturbing.

I have done large amounts of research into the horror/ zombie genre, I have focused mainly around the godfather of the modern zombies George A Romero. Mr Romero’s films typically have an underlying political sub plot about the people and how they are very much like the zombies in his movies this and the walking dead is what inspired me to make my film heavily character based and set in an urban environment.

RESEARCH AND INSPIRATIONS

What I Want My Audience To Feel Throughout my film we start to develop and gain an understanding of the

characters life and also everything which has happened through his hallucinations. I want my audience to understand what trauma such a change can bring a normal person when they are faced with the loss of friends, family and their life and their struggle for survival when it is put to the test. I want the audience to understand that because this character is dying he is slowly remembering his mistakes but more importantly the one good decision he made in his life right at the end of the film where the audience should be in a state of almost crying even though they have only known this character for 5 minutes.

What I Will Be Using To The Most Effect

I want to focus on the atmosphere of the film, using very little dialogue and focusing on the visuals and sound effects in the film to disturb the audience as opposed to jump scares.

I will be using HOMEGROW FX co. to work on the make-up and practical effects for my film and will be collecting my own library of sound effects from everyday objects to enhance any of the sounds which may have been obscured by wind blowing past the microphone.

I will also be adding filters on the camera lens to create a gloomy, dirty, grey atmosphere in the world I have created.

For the location I will be filming deep in an estate area which has been made to look like there has been a zombie outbreak. I will also alert the homeowners to my filming schedule so they hopefully don’t call the police… again.
