Annie - Adult waiting for her bus Jr. – Child that doesn’t get enough food. Katzuki – Child that doesn’t have a bed or place to sleep. Hanson – Child that doesn’t have an education. Marley Emerich Scene 1 – Three chairs put on the right side of the stage, two trees on each side to show it is outside. Annie is standing in adult clothes – Sitting to her left are Jr. Katzuki, and Hanson (in that order) Annie - Oh I wish my bus would get here faster… ( she mutters in a inpatient voice, sitting on the chair at down stage right, looking at her watch to show she was waiting) Jr. – Oh I’m sorry. I didn’t see you. ( he says it in a weak and strained voice) (Jr. stands and stumbles into Annie. He is grabbing his stomach like he is very hungry.) Annie – It’s okay! Are you alright? You look hurt. (she says in a calm voice and looking worried) (She stands and up and help Jr. to sit on the chair) Jr. – I’m just very hungry. I haven’t eaten since yesterday morning… (he groans) (his head low to look like he’s in pain.) Annie – That’s not good! (she looks unhappy but the thoughtful as well) Scene 2 – Three chairs put on the right side of the stage, two trees on each side to show it is outside. Kazuki comes in and looks very tired. Maybe massaging his neck or back because they hurt. Jr. – Oh! There is my brother. (He says a bit surprised) (he is point at Kazuki, looking happier)

Scene 1 – Three chairs put on the right side of the stage, two trees on each side to show it is outside.Annie is standing in adult clothes – Sitting to her left are Jr. Katzuki, and Hanson (in that order)

Annie - Oh I wish my bus would get here faster… (she mutters in a inpatient voice, sitting on the chair at down stage right, looking at her watch to show she was waiting)

Annie – What is wrong with you? (She asks curiously) (She helps Kazuki into the chair)

Kazuki: I do not have a bed to sleep in… my back hurts a lot… I’m very tired. (He complains with a strained voice) (His hands are on his hunched back to look like he’s in pain.)

Annie – Hmm…. This is not good at all. (Annie says firmly, like she’s angry)

Scene 3 –

Three chairs put on the right side of the stage, two trees on each side to show it is outside.

Hanson comes in. He is reading a book upside down and looks very confused.

Jr. – This is our youngest brother! (He points at Hanson)

Hanson – I am trying to understand this book but I can’t read! (He says frustrated) (He holds the book upside down to show that he can’t really read it.)

Annie – Don’t you go to school? (Annie asks very confused)

Hanson – None of us do… (Hanson looks down very sad)

Annie – That is it! We are going to see your parents! (She says both angry and determined) (She stomps her foot frustrated.)

Scene 4 –

Only one tree is used for this scene, it is at the center of the stage. A block is at the right side of the tree as a door, two chairs are at down stage right pretend to be the living room.Jr. and Kazuki will be the parents.

Annie – Do you guys know your children don’t have food, beds, or education? These are their child rights! (She shouts angrily)

Kazuki – We did not know that! (He looks confused and a bit disturbed)

Jr. – Children have rights? (He asks curious.)

Hanson – If we had an education we’d know that. (Hanson says very bitterly)

Jr. – Are there any more rights?

Annie – Children have the right to play and belong to a community as well! (She says excited)

Kazuki – Thank you for telling us! We will supply our children with their rights now. (He concludes with a handshake)

Jr. – They will have enough food, a bed, an education, and playtime! (Jr. says determined)

Hanson - Thank you! (He says cheerfully)

Annie – Bye!

Scene 5 –

Annie walks to center stage:

Annie: One week later.

Only one tree is used for this scene, it is at the center of the stage. A block is at the right side of the tree as a door, two chairs are at down stage right pretend to be the living room. Pan and spoon will be on the block.

Annie walks towards the house again, she knocks on the door. Hanson or Jr. answer it. Kazuki is sleeping on three chairs placed on the right side of the stage. Jr. is eating furiously.

Annie – Hi guys! How are you doing? (She asks hopeful) (She looks around to see how everyone is doing)

Jr. – Oh! I’m doing really well! I’m eating a lot lately. (Jr. says with a “mouthful” sounding voice) (He “eats” out of a pan frantically)

Annie – How about you Hanson? (She turns to him)

Hanson – Oh yes I’m going to school now! I know that 1 + 1 = 2! We are all learning, eating, & sleeping! (He adds excitedly) (He is reading a book the right way now)

Annie – What about fun? Are you guys playing as well? (She asks, looking concerned)

Jr. & Hanson: Yes! (They shout together)

Annie – Well then, I’m glad. Ok guys I got to go! See ya! (Very satisfied and happy, she leaves)

Jr. & Hanson: Bye! (They wave)
