Universal pictures is a subsidiary of a huge multi millionaire conglomerate general electric and Comcast. They also own NBC universal. It is the oldest movie studio in the United States of America. They key people of the organisation are Carl Laemmle the founder of the company and Ronald Meyer president, chief operation officer. In 2011 the total revenue was 4.239 billion. Universal pictures have produced many popular films for example 8mile, sanctum, jurassic park and the fast and furious.

Teen comedies produced by Universal Pictures

Universal pictures have produced many teen comedies. For example they produced American pie. Which was produced by Chris Moore, It was released on July the 9th in 1999. The budget of the film was 11billion pounds. The movie through box office made a huge amount of $235,483,004. It has also produced other teen comedies like Role models and Knocked up. Both these films did exceptionally well and were huge films. Role models was released in 2008 and through box office made $92,502,165

Columbia pictures

Columbia pictures is a subsidiary to a large company called Sony Entertainment. They key people of the subsidiary are Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach (co presidents). Sony own different kinds of companies which are all forms of different kinds of media so using cross media convenrgrance they own all sorts of different things like music and TV games etc. They have produced many different kinds of movies for example salt, hitch, the karate kid, superbad, the grudge 2. These are all different types of genres to reach a bigger audience of people.

Teen comedies produced by Columbia pictures

Columbia pictures have produced many teen comedies. One of the most popular would be Super bad. Super bad was released in 2007. It cost 20million to produced but then made $169,871,719. It was directed by Greg Mottola. As Columbia pictures is just a subsidiary this gave them the chance to advertise their product a lot more as they can use the conglomerate that owns them to use lots of different advertisements. Other films that they have produced are 21 jump street and the social networking site. These were both very popular films.

What company would distribute my product?

To produce my product the company I think would be the best for this would be the Universal Pictures. I decided this as they are a multi million pound subsidiary that have a huge conglomerate too. This also gives me the opportunity to advertise my product using lots of different advertisements and media. They also have the experience in the biggest teen comedy movies which is relevant to what I am producing, for example they produced the American pie which was a huge teen comedy and similar to what I am producing. I believe that the Universal pictures would produce my product as they have done teen comedies before so would be up for producing another one to reach their wide audience.
