How did you attract/address your audience?

Use of language/mode of address

The use of language is quite an informal chatty language, this is done to create a friendly relationship between the producer and consumer, so that they immediately feel at ease when approaching the magazine. Direct address is used such as “you” this is a deliberate choice so that the readers feels directly aimed at. I have also used buzz words on my front cover, such as “win” ,“exclusive”, and “free” this draws the audience in, as they know that they will benefit in some way by purchasing the magazine.

Use of font

The font I have used is simple, yet effective; I have used a regular font, but have used colours and the bold tool to bring out aspects of the wording. In the double page spread italics have been used to emphasise certain words such as “Miss Soroka” and “Amelia Soroka” which is printed on the top of her is written in Lucinda handwriting, which makes it more personal as it looks like she has written it, which brings out the fact that everything written in the interview comes from her, and is her own wording.

Contents (ref to bands/exclusives)

The contents is very music based, it revolves around current artists, festivals, the Brits, come backs, it makes reference to Katy Perry, Cold Play, Drake, Ed Sheeran and the Brit award winners all who are very current, and mainly mainstream artists, which again helps to reflect the genre of “Twisted” magazine. The magazine also has an exclusive interview, which I have used as a USP.

Image

The images I have used are all originally sourced by me, and several camera angles have been used to represent the variety used within my work. In the main image on the front cover the artist “Amelia” makes direct eye contact with the camera/ reader this shows more of a direct and personal link between the model, producer and consumer, and also helps to show the reliability of the magazine.

Masthead

For the masterhead I played around with many different styles on “DaFont” but decided to keep it simple and use a regular, bold, capital font in red, this was simple yet the shadowing effect I used on it made it quite effective, because it looked as if it was jumping off of the page. Both the masterhead for the front cover, and the contents page used the same style/font.

My audience research impacted my final decision because the majority of them where within the age bracket of 15-24 and mainstream/indie music came out as a popular choice when I collected my results from the questionnaire, so I chose made sure that I implemented what my target audience liked within my magazine, in order for it to be appealing for them.

Page 10: Question 5 addressing audience

I feel that I have been quite successful within targeting my particular audience because I have taken the audience feedback into consideration and have done what they would like to see within a music magazine, this is reflected through my choice of artists, such as Cold Play, Ed Sheeran etc… whom proved popular with the 15-24 age bracket. I have rewarded the readers for purchasing the magazine by giving them an exclusive interview and offering them opportunities to win festival tickets.
