There are approximately 6,100 different production companies in the USA alone making them the lead in the media industry.

Definition: a production company provides the physical basis for work in the realms of the performing arts, new media art, film, television, radio, and video.

There are approximately 6,100 different production companies in the USA alone making them the lead in the media industry.

Research

For the research of production companies, our main task I looked at four well-known production companies so that I could gather information and inspiration as to how to design our own production company for our film, ‘The Friend Request’.

The four I researched were;

1. Warner Bros Pictures2. Paramount 3. 20th Century Fox4. GrayScale

Warner Bros Pictures

• Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. (commonly called Warner Bros. or WB) is an American producer of film, television, and music entertainment.

• It is one of the most famous and most well-known production companies in the world due to the products it produces.

• Famous films that Warner Bros have produced include; The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Gravity, 300, The Matrix, Green Lantern, I Am Legend and many, many more.

• The company was founded on April 4th 1923 and has a net worth of approximately $12.3 billion.

Paramount

• Paramount Pictures Corporation (commonly known as Paramount) is a film studio, television production company and motion picture distributor, consistently ranked as one of the "Big Six" film studios of Hollywood.

• Films that Paramount have produced include; Transformers, Star Trek, Mission Impossible, Iron man 3, Titanic, Thor and many, many more.

• The company was founder in 1912 as ‘Famous players film company’ but was later changed to ‘Paramount’ in 1914.

20th Century Fox

• Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation (also known as 20th Century Fox, 20th Century Fox Pictures, or simply Fox)— is one of the six major American film studios.

• 20th Century Fox are famous for the films they produce including; Planet of the Apes, Night at the Museum, Fantastic Four, Ice Age, X-Men, Alien. But they are also well-known for their TV programmes; The Simpsons, Glee, Modern Family, New Girl and 24.

• The company was founded on May 31st 1935 and has a net worth of up to $10.7 billion.

Universal

• Universal Studios Inc. (also known as Universal Pictures), is an American film studio, owned by ‘Comcast’ through its wholly owned subsidiary ‘NBCUniversal’, and is one of Hollywood's "Big Six" film studios.

• Universal produce some of the world’s most famous films like; Jurassic Park, Jaws, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Fast and the Furious, The Purge, Battleship, Transformers and so many more.

• The company was founded on the 30th April 1912 and has a major net worth of $14.2 billion.
