PROJECT NAME

Our project name is going to be called “Ready or Not” and our catchphrase that is going to be displayed towards the end of our opening sequence is: “Ready or not, here I come!”

We thought this would be catchy as a title as it is the catchphrase for the game: “Hide & Seek”. Along with this, the title and catchphrase both relate to the storyline of our opening sequence.

LENGTH/DEADLINE

The length of our opening sequence will only be two minutes long

The deadline for our production is the 6th of November, this will give us enough time to film and edit the whole production.

BRIEF OVERVIEW

There is a stalker that is trying to capture this young girl. He enters the house at night whilst she is asleep and walks slowly upstairs. The girl wakes up from a nightmare and goes to the bathroom to splash water on her face. She walks nervously downstairs and the lights start to flicker. She opens the living room door to see the stalker sitting on the chair polishing his weapon. The stalker then aims the weapon (e.g. a gun) at the girl and the scene goes blank. A bullet is heard in the background and a child is heard saying: “ready or not, here I come”.

TARGET AUDIENCE/ SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS

The target audience for our production is 15+ (15-25 year olds) and is aimed at both genders.

The socio-economic status that our production will be aimed at are from groups A-E. This is because our target audience starts at age 15 and over. As most teenagers of this age are unemployed and do not earn, this is why we have decided to start from socio-economic group E because our target audience starts from 15+. People over this age category will also fit into the categories A-E whether they are employed or not.

1. Disconnect2. The East 3. The Iceman4. Now you see me 5. Europa Report We looked at the films and analyzed their codes and

conventions. We also noted down any ideas that we could use for our opening sequence.

REPRESENTATIONS OPERATING IN MY TEXT/ARE THESE JUSTIFIED?

We will be using stereotypical representations in order to get the audience to understand the theme. The stalker will be wearing black hoodie, black jeans, black boots with a mask. On top of the hoodie, he will be wearing a black jacket. This represents his eeriness and ambiguity which indicates that his character will be making things wrong in the film. The girl running in the forest will be wearing blue jeans to represent innocence, pink cardigan which represents vulnerability and white top to represent purity. Their clothing's gives the audience an indication on what their character will be about.

TESTING IF THE PRODUCT IS SUCCESSFUL. IF IT ACCOMPLISHES THE INTENDED EFFECT

We will get our target audience to watch our opening sequence, afterwards, we will give them the post questionnaire we made for them to fill out: asking about their opinion on the opening sequence. As a backup, we will ask them questions individually about the sequence and collect their opinions on how we can improve the sequence. We will film their responses for this. We will take the improvement we received into consideration and make the opening sequence better.

GENERIC CODES AND CONVENTIONS

The codes and conventions are going to be portrayed through the character’s costume, location and also the lighting. The costume which the stalker is wearing is going to be fully black, which will represent the scariness and the mysterious side of the stalker, this will help to make the audience aware of who the character is and understand his personality. The props will help create the setting that we want to make and also make the location seem more realistic. This will add more of a personality to the stalker. The lighting will mostly be dark to represent the atmosphere that we want to produce as we are creating a thriller opening sequence.

HIDDEN MESSAGES WITHIN THE TEXT

‘Whatever hardships you come across you can always get through it and out the other side.

You should always keep strong and fight your enemies mentally rather than physically

It gives the audience the message that during life they will face lot of different obstacles but they will need to fight it to get to the other side.

IDENTIFY AND RECOURSE CONSTRAINTS THAT MAY AFFECT PRODUCTION AND HOPES FOR PRODUCT

Money is one of the factors we are dependent on because we need to buy props and costume to make the characters seem more realistic. The actors are important because without them we can’t film our production. The location is important to create the setting and also to create the image we want to create. We also need enough time to film the production and to make sure it is in high standard.
