Initial ThoughtsIn are group we decided we would make something from the thriller genre, I wanted to do this particular genre because the intention is to surprise the audience and create suspense. It wants to catch them off guard rather than makes them laugh.

The narrative structure hadn't quite been decided on but we

had some initial ideas. Originally we decided to make an opening

sequence but we didn't know how we should portray that it

was a thriller with a female villain without giving it away., so

instead we have decided to make a trailer and have worked

on our narrative.

Are first initial location idea is the local Saltford cycle track. It is convenient as its local but more importantly we feel that it is a great setting as its just a long cycle path surrounded by greenery and carries on for miles.

QuestionnaireI have created a questionnaire in

order to help with my research, so I know what the audience find most effective in a thriller film.

Page 11: Planning and pre production

The results all indicated that a thriller needs to have suspense and mystery. It needs to keep

the audience guessing and this is what we intend to do with

our trailer.

Audience Theories

The audience theories I would like to apply to are project are: Propp's character theory by not having the typical character structure. By challenging the theory it will be more exciting for the viewers because it is unconventional. I also want to explore Levi-Strauss' Binary Oppositions theory. I feel challenging these common theories would make the film stand from others and make it exciting to watch.

Censorship & Target Audience

For censorship the film would be a 15 because of probable strong swearing, violence references and adult themes. The trailers for films are quite vague in storyline, and have a fast pace to create the tense mood. This is very effective as music has a hug effect on the audiences open of a successful film. We want to do something with the same effect. We are aiming for the teenage audience, more likely to be girls because of the female villain and vengeful narrative.

Page 14: Planning and pre production

NarrativeThe narrative is about a girl who goes slightly crazy and takes revenge on 3 of her ex-boyfriends for the way they miss treated her. She then gets a taste for it and kills another of her ex-boyfriends before aiming to kill another. She stalks all of them. The last guy she is aiming to kill is a detective that is investigating the murders that she has committed. They are in a race for who wins, will she kill him before he discovers the murderer. In the end, she hangs herself because she is ridden with guilt.
