Red hot chilli peppers – funk rock, alternative rock. This band is an alternative and different band which is represented through two of the band members wearing tops and covering themselves up and the other two members who are not wearing tops, and are showing their tattoo’s and biceps. This image is symmetrical as it is evenly weighted through there being two people on either side of the photograph. Through two of the members tattoo’s being shown in the photo it emphasises their type of music and the type of people they are. The photograph has been taken in black and white which indicates that they are a classic band and have an edge to them.

Biffy Clyro – alternative rock, post-hardcore, new prod, indie rock. This image uses the rule of thirds as in the primary optical area are two of the members in the band and then in the strong fallow area is the lead singer who stands out a lot more as he is further towards the camera, he is wearing a leather jacket which emphasises the sort of music they perform which is indie/rock. This image is in black and white which gives off the vibe that this band are classic and it represents their genre more. The lighting is darker at the back and lighter nearer the camera which makes the lead singer stand out more as he is being highlighted.

Rihanna – R&B, pop, dancehall, reggae, hip hop, dance. This photograph emphasises what type of singer and performer Rihanna is through her having dark eye make-up and bright red lipstick and the way her tongue is, as she is a raunchy but in a way glamorous singer. The lighting is making the front of her face stand out and clear. In the strong fallow area is her arm with her album name wrote on it, so from this photograph her album is being advertised as well.

Kings of Leon – southern rock, alternative rock, garage rock revival. This image has been taken in a laundry room which indicates that this band are just like all other people and want to fit in. In the primary optical area is a washing machine and in the terminal area is just tiles so it’s almost like the band are just a secondary image, so this really emphasises that they want to fit in and be like ordinary people, but also in a way it makes people look up to them because of the way the camera is at a low angle. Their genre is emphasised through them wearing black leather jackets and them just being stood there leaning on the walls, looking like they don’t care what other people think. The photograph has been shot in black and white which shows that they are a classic rock band.

Nirvana – alternative rock, grunge. This image uses the rule of thirds. In this photograph Nirvana’s rock and roll image is being portrayed through their long hair and the cigarette that one of the members is holding up towards the camera. The image looks like it has been taken outside, but it also looks like they are trying to make the image look like they are in a prison through the bars in the background, but they don’t care what anyone thinks about them so they are trying to be rebellious. The image has been taken in black and white which shows the audience that they are a classic band.

Florence and the machine – indie pop, indie rock, baroque pop, art rock, soul and experimental. This photograph is symmetrical as she is directly in the middle with both her hands held up either side of her face with gold glitter on them. The lighting and her clothing emphasise her character as she is lit up brightly and seems very edgy and her clothing seems almost vintage like. Her almost fire like hair stands out in the photo and also fits in with her personality as well, as she has been ‘seen jumping around like she is on fire’.
