Looking back at your preliminary task, what so you feel you have learnt in the progression of it to the full project?

• We have learnt that, holding a camera still is key to creating a believable piece of film, and the angle and lighting within the frame creates the mood of the piece. Also the match on action takes more time than we thought and it is very important to get that right to ensure a piece of footage flows properly.

• We also learnt about the different transitions which we could use, and became familiar with which effects worked for different styles of film. We featured a couple of these transitions in our preliminary task at the beginning and at the end of the piece.

• We learnt about the background noise which can be heard if the camera is moved, or noise which is made in the location of filming. We learned how to over come this and were able to use this knowledge in our final piece.

• Finally, we experienced red flashes when cutting from one shot to another, which we learned we could erase by zooming in on the timeline and ensuring the shots are directly after one another.

What kind of institution might distribute your media product and why?

• We think that a company like ‘Lions Gate’ may be interested in distributing our film and associated merchandise. This is because they are affiliated with horror/thriller giants such as the SAW films, and have become a connotation of gore and scares. Also they are a British company which might make them more interested in our media product as it is a British film.

How did you attract or address your audience?

• The type of music we used was aimed at our target audience, as it fell under the category that our audience is likely to listen to. This could make them feel like they could relate to the genre of music and film, which will make them more likely to want to watch it.

• Also, the effects in the opening we used we chose to entice our audience, because we thought that any one watching ( target audience or not) will be intrigued by the mystery surrounding the girls in the sequence.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge form and conventions of real media products?

• There is one main way in which our product challenges real media product forms within our genre. In most horror/thrillers the protagonist is generally a male character where as in ours it is a female, and so is the antagonist, making the film very female dominated which is more associated with genres such as chick flicks rather than horror/thrillers.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

• Our media product focuses on the representation of teenage social groups, mainly indie/scene groups. It also focuses on the struggles that face teenagers and can be linked to issues such as family life, friends and relationships and personal trials and tribulations which make up the rollercoaster of teenage years. We also have a focus on the families point of view within our film which highlights the struggles and pressures which are put on families with teenage children as they grow up and become young adults.
