My chosen artist is a 30 year old woman, she is into the indie, acoustic and soul genre. she is from Brooklyn, New York city in the United states. She once moved to Carson city, Nevada to attend a wood sculpture apprenticeship instead of going to college where she learned to use a chainsaw and make things like leopards and sailors and benches and pretty signs then one late night in the studio she was talking with the head sculptor there and he was telling her one of the most significant things he ever learned in life was the importance of following your number one passion and not your second or third, because you will only be truly great if you're doing what you really love most. so she put down her chainsaw, quit, and told him she was going to learn to play guitar and be a solo artist.

My artist is similar to Sinead O’Connor because they both have a sense of simplicity to their tone, in both of their songs, they do not allow the soundtrack to overpower their voices, as their voices are the key elements in their music. This is shown through Sinead O’Connor’s music video where the idea of naturalism is portrayed as she didn’t need any gimmicks in the music video, as most of the shots consisted of a close up of her face and her walking through a grave yard. The style of this music video will be ideal for my music video because I also want to convey a sense naturalism in my music video. The close up shot of Sinead O’Connor’s face is definitely a technique I would apply to my music video.

Taylor Swift Taylor Swift is a 23 year old American singer-songwriter. Taylor Swift and Amber Rubarth are both guitarists and are both into acoustic instrumentals. They both go for ‘The girl next door’ look, the way they are perceived is quite similar as their ability to play a guitar part of their branding look. They both have a target audience of teenagers and women between 15- 30.

Digipak/Magazine Adverts

My digipak/magazine advert would either a close up of my character’s face to convey simplicity. This emphasizes the emotion my character is feeling and almost forces the audience to pay attention to it.

Or I focus on he branding of my artist and have her playing a guitar. This allows the audience to recognize and categorize my artist as an acoustic singer, which conveys that her target audience is quite young.

To keep in style with the idea of naturalism, my artist would be dressed in natural everyday outfits such as dresses. This is so the target audience can relate to the artist much more, my artist would be dressed in quite classy and sophisticated outfits to show a little bit of maturity.

Overview of the song

Amber Rubarth

The song I’ve chosen is of the pop genre. The idea behind the song is about overcoming a heart breaking event that might have happened in someone’s life. In the scenario of my song, it is about a young couple that have been together for four years then the girlfriend find out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her, so she beaks up with him and throws him out of the house. We also have her reminiscing at the times her and her boyfriend spent together as some of the lyrics do say “when you look backwards”. Finally, her friends help her get her independence back.

Overview of the video

A lot of the actions that is going to be carried out in my music video is reliant on the lyrics. For example, at the end of the video, we have a tracking shot/pan of the character walking in the park, when the lyrics read “and now your eyes shifts from negative spaces, to contours that light this rough cut design, and you see you’re sculpture in motion, your unfinished art that keeps going and going” I’ll have the screen go from black and white to color to show her recovery from the heart break.

some the shots in my music video will be head shots of my artists and of my artist in a park. The other shots would be of the girlfriend in her house.

Target audienceThe target audience of my music video are females from the age of 15-30. I chose this particular story line to fit my target audience because most females between these ages would understand what a bad break up is or feels like, therefore, they would be able to empathize with my character. My target audience will be addressed in a variety of ways, in ways such as the costume of my artist would be very subtle in order for my audience to be able to relate to my artist.
