The Detroit-adjacent native recently undertook the sweeping gesture of buying the entire record

collection of Dave Haslam, who heads will know as a resident at Manchester’s acid house haven Haçienda and author of Life After Dark: A History of British Nightclubs & Music Venues.“As a 30 year old there is only so much you can read about or hear through friends to imagine what it was like during the heyday of acid house and the Haçienda,” Troxler told THUMP’s Josh Baines. “I think it's very important not only to preserve the music but to preserve this collection intact for future generations to enjoy.”Haslam seemed equally jazzed about the whole situation: “When Seth got in touch I was really pleased. The records were bought by me to be played – it's a working DJ's collection - and Seth's commitment to music and to vinyl is fabulous,” he explained. “There's stuff in there he'll know and love but stuff he'll discover too, and through him, and thanks to him taking them on and playing them out, new audiences will discover them too, and enjoy them.”Fans of Troxler can look forward to him dropping some of these re-emergent gems on the dancefloor. Haslam explains the collection: “My thirty years of DJing is in this collection, including all the records I played on the four hundred occasions I played at the Hacienda in the 1980s, beginning with funk and soul and electro and Factory Records stuff, and on through industrial and alternative music and into the early acid tunes and the house music revolution. And then the 1990s too, bleepy stuff, disco, the euphoric floorfillers, and the wild and weird records I loved and wanted to share with dancefloors from Manchester to Paris and Berlin to New York.”

A classically trained musician since age four, she can't recall life without rhythm and melody. Starting with violin, and followed

closely by piano, drums and clarinet, she began composing classical music at age 10 and performed regularly for years, notably with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and in Disneyland with one of the country’s top youth jazz ensembles.

Throughout college and adult life, she kept close watch over the evolving scenes of favorite genres. Then a chance introduction to Ableton flipped a switch that forever changed her interaction with music. Inspired to her core, she set about recharting her path and reigniting creative ambitions, leaving corporate success behind in favor of a purpose-driven life.

Today is a presence known across the US, she’s equally comfortable at underground warehouse parties and mainstay clubs. In her home market of Chicago, she spins regularly at Spybar, Primary, Castle and the well-respected Paradigm Underground parties, among many others. A sought-after opener because of her finely honed ability to create a proper vibe and manage the energy of a room, she’s warmed up the dance floor for artists such as Gui Boratto, Tube & Berger, Edu Imbernon, Lee Foss, Eelke Kleijn, Jody Wisternoff, Kolsch, Jeremy Olander, 16 Bit Lolitas, Martin Roth, Kolombo, Benjamin Damage, Anthony Attalla and Magdalena…just to name a few.

She gravitates toward the complex, emotive and melodic, with a focus on intelligent, forward-thinking sounds from across the spectrum of house and techno. Her dynamic performances are driven by relentless curation, an intuitive connection to time and space, and a palpable energy that goes straight to the heart of the dance floor.

Safehouse Management are happy to announce that Lauren Lo Sung will be joining us in 2016 alongside a whole host of

Techno stars, perfect for an artist named by Ibiza Spotlight as a "true rising star of her generation". Lauren is known to entwine Techno styles with groovy breaks and impeccable basslines, making her a perfect addition to the Safehouse family. Lauren started to gain interest on the underground scene with her own club night "LOLiFE" which she hosted at a number of venues across Manchester and Liverpool. This was launched into the spotlight when it was made an official clubbing partner of the well revered ‘The Warehouse Project’ in Manchester, and since then has gone leaps and bounds. It's not just her events that have gained Lauren interest on the scene, its her productions, which has seen her release on a large number of notable labels such as Deep Tech Records, DRAFT, Love Not Money, Pole Position Records and more recently Innocent Music Deep with her excellent Keep The Groove EP. Lauren's performing career has seen her play at numerous major clubs and festivals such as Manchester's famed Parklife Festival, The Warehouse Project, Yousefs prestigious CIRCUS parties, Sankeys Ibiza and Manchester, Dubai's Tamanya Terrace, Croatia's Love System Festival, Outbreak Summer Festival in Switzerland, Malta and finally Amnesia in Milan. Lauren has been given the praise she deserves by the industry, by winning the "Liverpool ECHO DJ of the year 2014" as well as securing high profile residencies with TRMNL in Birmingham, WAXXX in Liverpool and EGG London, who previously gave Lauren her own show on EGG radio, entitled 'The LOLiFE Show'. 2016 is going to be a huge year for Lauren Lo Sung. We look forward to working alongside this bright new talent.

GARETH PUGH

The move to Soho's Brewer Street car park might have come as a left-field surprise to some but it was a move

positively embraced by Gareth Pugh, who last season returned to London having previously had a Paris hiatus.

"The idea of showing in Soho on a Saturday night was intoxicating," he elaborated in his show notes, likening the central London spot to a rabbit hole, such was its effect on him when he first moved to London. And as a London enfant terrible himself, it simply did seem to be the perfect fit, music pumping, lights flashing and pennies beneath our feet as we sat down. Saturday night: the new going out? It's going to a show, Gareth Pugh's show.

What did he have in store? A troop of bad gals that hailed from Britain's pleasure piers. Cue faces painted on over stretch masks, eyeshadow of epic proportions, wig hair to match; latex leggings, stiletto killer heels; candy stripes and sequin shorts.

These were wild creatures of the night alright and they were inviting you for a dance on the disco dance floor. Do you have your star-shaped shades at the ready? Your moves ready to break out? Lengths were lean for flares and jumpsuits, tailoring rendered in leather, and pennies making for a new take on a standard sequin.

All of that said, this was one of the most wearable offerings from Pugh yet - his previous nightmare-infused collections put to bed in favour of a big night out instead. Let's dance.

RIWHILE it was initially distracting to see models carrying their colleagues upside

down in body harnesses at the Rick Owens show this afternoon, there was – as we all knew there would be – a symbolic reason for it. Ever the contemporary showman, Owens challenges convention with his shows to highlight the fundamental message that he wishes to convey, and today it was “nourishment, sisterhood and motherhood, and regeneration”.

Sartorially these idea of birth, of women being fertile givers of life, found its way past the cradling harnesses into rich silk gazars and organzas draped around the body into creations that were “as close to floral as I’ll probably ever get,” said Owens, as well as asymmetric and sculpted proportions that, like human nature, were imperfect and raw.

It was a departure for Owens, by his own admission, and one that proved to his critics that he is no one-trick pony. Calmly sat front row in a shadowed corner of the Palais de Tokyo show space watching his crowd file in, it appeared that Rick Owens was experiencing a regeneration of his own today.
