Originally, the Japanese came up with this innovative one-molecule-thick surfactant fluid it was intended to be poured on miles of rice paddies in order to extend the growing season with the resultant warmer water. Distribution of the chemical over large areas was apparently a problem, requiring downwind dispersal and many introduction points. Still, it worked; they produced a lot more rice.

The liquid pool cover works by slowing evaporation from the surface of a swimming pool; either indoor or outdoor. When your pool is warmer than the air aroundIt, or when the air has a lower than 100% humidity, the pool sweats. Invisible steamescapes into the air and blows away from outdoor pools, or is exhausted by the air handling system of an indoor pool. The escaping steam of a pool is 70% of the cost ofkeeping your pool water warm for pool users. A liquid pool cover is an effective method in reducing the steam loss per hour. It does this by forming a safe invisible layer one to two molecules thick on the surface of the pool.

Liquid pool covers will save energy in every heated pool or spa,but energy savings vary according to the hours of swimmer useper day. Ventilation efficiency, air temperature, wind exposure, pool design, equipment and especially the type and cost of fuel used to heat the pool or spa.Tests have proven that heat bill savings range from a low of 15.5%at a high use 50 meter municipal pool, to a high of 40% at a low usecondominium or hotel pool.

The Professional Pool Operators of America tested the liquid pool coverwith a “hard” cover for ten days ; to see if the liquid system could come close to matching the blankets performance. At the PPOA test pool, the experiments were empirical, attempting to minimize outside variables as much as possible. But acknowledging that one day is never like the next. While accurate calculations are difficult, it was determined that energy conservation with the pool blanket and theliquid pool cover were the same.

The question that has not been answered in terms of safety is; ifthis long-chain of organic molecular layer greatly limits the evolvement of water vapor, does it also impede the nitrogen and trihalomethange gassing off during break point chlorination? It appears not to be a problem so far in field performance, however the science has yet to be explained.

Rich advised that he can not explain why but the liquid pool cover does better in skimmer pools than in gutter pools.Starting with the proper dosage of the liquid pool cover which is determined by the size of your pool . Then following with a daily dosage to maintain the amount you need in the poolGives you energy savings.
