FILM INDUSTRYThe film industry or motion picture industry comprises the technological and commercial institutions of filmmaking, film production companies, film studios, cinematography, film production, screenwriting, pre-production, post production, film festivals, distribution; and actors, film directors and other film crew personnel. Though the expense involved in making movies almost immediately led film production to concentrate under the auspices of standing production companies, advances in affordable film making equipment, and expansion of opportunities to acquire investment capital from outside the film industry itself, have allowed independent film production to evolve.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB ROLES
A job role is a regular activity performed in exchange for payment. A person usually begins a job by becoming an employee, volunteering, or starting a business. The duration of a job may range from an hour in the case of odd jobs to a lifetime in the case of some judges. If a person is trained for a certain type of job, they may have a profession. The series of jobs a person holds in their life is their career.
JOB ROLES: TECHNICAL FILM INDUSTRY
The producer is involved throughout all phases of the film making process from the industry. There may be several producers on a film who may take a role in a number of producer and not involved in the technical aspects of the filmmaking process in the original. This specialized job includes making new clothing appear dirty, faded and worn.
JOB ROLES: CREATIVE FILM INDUSTRY
The Film Director, Director of Photography, and Production Designer Are the Top Decision-makers in Their Specific Work Designations. While many aspiring film professionals study in film schools for formal training, production work doesn't necessarily require a degree in filmmaking. A person's expertise for the job through proven track record and experience in the field is more important in film production than just earning a degree.
JOB ROLES: EDITORIAL FILM INDUSTRY
Editors are one of the key Heads of Department on feature films, responsible for First Assistant Editors, and on bigger productions, Second Assistants and Trainees. The way a story unfolds and grabs the attention of the audience is one of the most important elements in filmmaking. To ensure that the story flows effortlessly from beginning to end, each shot is carefully chosen and edited into a series of scenes, which are in turn assembled to create the finished film. Editors work closely with the Director before shooting begins, deciding how to maximize the potential of the screenplay.
JOB ROLES: MANAGERIAL FILM INDUSTRY
Film production including documentaries, current affairs, light entertainment or children's programmes, situation comedies, soaps or serial dramas, or one off dramas. They are responsible for all the organisational aspects of production scheduling and budgeting. They assist Producers to interpret and realise the Directors' vision, both financially and logistically. Production Managers prepare production schedules or script breakdowns to confirm that sufficient time has been allocated for all aspects of the production process, and to verify Producers' budgets and schedules
