What is Rough Trade Records?

• Birth in 1978• Developped through Geoff Travis’ shop oppened in 1976 in London.

• First release with a french punk rock band: Metal Urbain – Paris Maquis

What is Rough Trade Records?

• 1980, due to success, the label moves to Blenheim Crescent (London) in bigger premises.

• 1983 the label signs The Smiths

• 1984 Rough Trade moves again in Kings Cross.• 1991: Unfortunate business decisions, credits

issues, Rough Trade was over…until 2001.

« The Modern Age »

• 2001, the label reappears and signs the first release of The Strokes: The Modern Age.

• Since this times, the label don’t stop its ascension and signed peoples like The Libertines, Arcade Fire or Belle & Sebastian…
