DESCRIPTION
A PROGRAMME DESIGNED TO GIVE VISITING SCHOOL PUPILS OF ALL AGES A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE FIRST-HAND THE CULTURAL ARTS OF INDIA. THE FOLLOWING IS A SLIDESHOW PRESENTATION THAT TAKES YOU THROUGH THE DIFFERENT SESSIONS OF A COMPLETE STANDARD INDIA AWARENESS DAY. North Indian Dance session : Introduction to Kathak - Dance participation
- Kathak Dance performance
A full day programme includes the video introduction to India and its culture, and
provides the full music and dance session in both the North Indian and SouthIndian tradition (the day being split
between the two traditions). This schedule forms the standard
complete day.

The video session is designed to provide an introductory overview of the vast Indian subcontinent and its diverse cultures. Taking the viewer across time, it visits the different religious climates that have shaped India’s cultural visual arts and architecture up until the modern period.

A complete music session covers all the learning outcomes above: please refer to the IAD PDF Information Pack pages 4-5 for details. There is the alternative option (as necessary) for a session covering, or focusing more on, just one or two of these learning outcomes. The last one especially can be offered in more depth as appropriate to the students’ curriculum (for example, GCSE Indian/World music). Please get in contact to find out more.

A FLEXIBLE PROGRAMME PACKAGE:The India Awareness Day package, designed
into such sessions, also allows the option for programmes on either just music or dance.
Additionally, since any music or dance session can cover all as standard, or cover/focus more on just specific learning outcomes/items (please refer to
the IAD PDF Information Pack for details), an India Awareness Day can be tailored to accommodate
different requirements…
Whilst sessions can thus be flexible, it is highly recommended that any arranged music or dance session is had in both the
North Indian and South Indian tradition.
