My favorite city

This is a very important building in Gijón.

Our major, Paz Fernández Felgueroso, works here.

She, with the help of the city council, runs the town.

It attracts a lot of people to take pictures and enjoy the sea landscape.

Gijón used to be a fishing village. Now the old harbor has become a beautiful marina.

It is located in the historic downtown, and it is a meeting place for all the people visiting the city.

San Lorenzo´s beach

San Lorenzo´s beach is the most popular beach in Gijón. In summer people of all Gijón go to this beach.

The San Lorenzo´s beach isn’t artificial, from the sky it looks as a shell.

You can find it next to the Marina. It is a man-made beach built in 1990 where there was an industrial area.

The biggest SPA un Gijon is in its west end , while the aquarium is in the east end.

The Poniente Beach

It has a wide promenade where you can have a nice walk or practice skating.

This is the biggest park in Gijón. There is always a lot of people enjoying it.

It has a wide playground area where children can have a nice time.

The “Isabel la Catolica” park

The typical food and drink of Gijón are the cider and the beans stew.

In Gijón there are a lot of museums. One of them is the “Cider museum”.

In autumn we celebrate the “amagüestu”, a typical festival where you can eat chestnuts an drink cider.
