of a circular table top and square legs classifying this as a piece of Federal style furniture.

Contemporary/ModernContemporary/

Modern furniture has a very unique look. It uses unusual shapes and forms. This style was created to replace wood with glass and steel.

Art NouveauArt Nouveau is French

meaning “New Art”. These furniture pieces are based on patterns of natural forms like waves, leaves and branches. The furniture usually has lots of detail.

ShakerShaker style was

based on pure simplicity. The furniture was designed to be useful. This style was introduced in 1744.

were done mostly in mahogany wood. The chair legs were usually curved out to the side and the tables were supported on finely carved pillars or lyre-shaped bases.

BaroqueThis style was an Italian
