What is a film? Film is an audio visual moving image that travels in a
sequence so as to tell a story with a beginning ,middle and end.
In a film we see everything moving(people,time)
History The Lumiere brother
s , Auguste Marie Louis Nicolas and Louis Jean were the first filmmakers in history.
The Lumières held their first private screening of projected motion pictures in 1895.
South Asian cinema South Asian cinema refers to
the cinema of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.
History of films in south asia
The Lumier Brothers of France exhibited their short films in 1895 at Grande Cafe, Paris. The following year, they brought the show to India and held its premiere at the Watson Hotel in Bombay on 1896. It was a package of 6 films viz, Entry of cinematograph, Arrival of the train, The sea bath, A demolition, Leaving the factory and Ladies and Soldiers on wheels. From 1896, films were released at the Novelty Theatre on a regular basis.
First film in subcontinent
The first Indian film released in India was Shree pundalik a silent film in Marathi by Dadasaheb Torne on 1912 at 'Coronation Cinematograph', Mumbai.Some have argued that Pundalik does not deserve the honour of being called the first Indian film because it was a photographic recording of a popular Marathi play, and because the cameraman—a man named Johnson—was a British national and the film was processed in London.
First film of subcontinent The first full-length motion picture in India was
produced by Dadasaheb Phalke . He produced Raja Harishchandra (1913) first Indian film.

Golden age of Indian cinema Following India's independence, the period from the
late 1944s to the 1960s are regarded by film historians as the 'Golden Age' of Indian cinema. Some of the most critically acclaimed Indian films of all time were produced during this period.
Modern cinema In the late 1960s and early
1970s, romance movies and action films starred .
In the mid-1970s, romantic confections made way for gritty, violent films about gangsters and bandits which lasted into the early 1990s
During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the pendulum swung back toward family-centric romantic musicals

Pakistani cinema
The Cinema of Pakistan, or simply, Pakistani Cinema refers to Pakistan's film industry. Most of the feature films shot in Pakistan are in Urdu, the national language, but may also include films in English, the official language, and regional languages such as Punjabi, Pashto, Balochi, and Sindhi. Lahore was the epicenter of Pakistani cinema and Pakistan's largest film industry was Lollywood.
HOISTORY OF FILMS IN PAKISTAN Immediately following the independence of Pakistan in
1947, the newly founded Pakistan being a new state faced a shortage of funds. Shortage of filming equipment further paralysed the nation's film industry.
With much hardships faced, the new film industry was able to produce its first feature, Teri Yaad on 1948.
Golden Age The '60s decade is often cited as being the golden age
of cinema in Pakistan.
Pakistan saw the introduction of first color films. Some that share the status of being firsts are Azra and Sangam(first full-length colored film) and Mala in early 60s.
Legend Waheed Muraad stepped into the industry known as choclate hero of that time.
Armaan,Dheewar Bhabhi,Aag,Ashiyana etc are famous films of that time.
Decline
Partition of Bangladesh caused Pakistan film industry to lose its number of cinemas.(AINA film was popular film in that time).
In 70s,when Zia ul Huq began to islamacize the country ,film industry was first victim in change as government closed cinemas and introduced taxes which decreased audience.
Another blow was Waheed Muraad’s death which was the officially end of Pakistan cinema.
Revival
Geo Films continued efforts with their 'Revival of cinema.
In 2007,Khuda Key Liye became a big hit of Pakistani cinema.
In 2012,Waar became biggest hit.
Actor Shan,Hamza Ali Abbasiplayed a great role,young director Bilal Lashari took Pakistan cinema to heights.

Release A film release refers to the authorization of owner of a
