Brand

Stars are dressed to conform to the brand identity.

Certain words are used that would be expected of our brand, and appeal to the audience.

Font taken from the e4 style guide, it is recognisable to regular viewers. They will also know what type of programme it is due to this.

Brick wall recognisable from the end of the trailer, shows that the show is set in a suburban environment.

My Product

Audience is addressed according to the genre of the soap, certain words are used that only this audience would understand (reem) and the clothes the characters are wearing are similar to that of the audience, so they feel like they can relate to the characters.

Magazine cover reveals a bit about the plot, which is a subject that the audience will like (secret lover!), this is almost always a topic in popular soaps, and popular among our audience.

Large masthead in the top left of the page.

Cover stars eyes are looking at the reader, to engage with them.

Large font, all in capitals, eye catching and easy to read.

My ProductAgain, the audience is addressed through the use of costume and in Georgia’s case, make up.

Popular brands that the audience will recognise, so they know the soap will appeal to them.

The clothes worn are keeping up with current fashion, which appeals to the audience

Channel and Colour Scheme

We decided to use E4 as the channel for our soap because of our target audience. To create a house style, we used the Channel 4 style guide.

Representing A RegionI used a street name for my soap trailer to create regional representation. Coronation Streets audience knows that it is set in Manchester, and our audience will know that ours too is set in Manchester.

Coronation street is made to appeal to the working class, and our soap appeals to a younger audience. Locations such as the Rovers Return Inn and the terraced houses create realistic representation of life in the suburbs of Manchester
