Who is Lawren S.Harris?
Lawren Stewart Harris (October 23, 1885 – January 29, 1970) was a Canadian painter. He was born in Brantford, Ontario and is best known as a member the Group of Seven who pioneered a distinctly Canadian painting style in the early twentieth century. A. Y. Jackson has been quoted as saying that Harris provided the stimulus for the Group of Seven. During the 1920s, Harris' works became more abstract and simplified, especially his stark landscapes of the Canadian north and Arctic. He also stopped signing and dating his works so that people would judge his works on their own merit and not by the artist or when they were painted.

My opinion about his painting
When I saw his paintings at first time, I thought how human can draw like this. I was so excited. So I researched about his paintings and his drawing skills. He is a member of group of seven. Most of his paintings are oil painting. He use only few simple colours but it looks dimensional and remarkable. I was so surprised that he used only two or three colours at one painting. I think Canada’s geography affected to his painting too. In his most of painting has mountains and snows. It represents Canada has many snows and mountains. Because when I came to Canada, I realized that Canada has a very cold weather and everywhere I saw snows. And also when he draw the street and lake, every paintings have autumn weather. In his painting there is no summer and spring.
Thank you!
