History of the t-shirt

The T-shirt evolved from undergarments used in the 19th century, through cutting the one-piece "union suit" underwear into separate top and bottom garments, with the top long enough to tuck under the waistband of the bottoms. T-shirts, with and without buttons, were adopted by miners and stevedores during the late 1800's as a convenient covering for hot environments.

Threadless website

Here is a picture of the top i found on the website Threadless. I like this top because it has humour on it by the cookie saying to the milk " i love you ". I think that if they made this top in other colours then it would be more popular. The cost of this t-shirt is £30 which i think is quite expensive for the design of this t-shirt. If you also bought this off the internet the price of postage would be £1.50.

WHAT IS PRINT ON DEMAND?Weekend Homework

T-shirt design campaign idea 1 -

I think that everyone should get free EMA every week. This would improve my life because it would mean that i would have money to pay for the bus and for lunch at college. This would also improve other people's lives aswell especially those who struggle with money.

T-shirt design campaign idea 2 -

I think that everone should have free travel. If there was always free travel it would be easier to get to places and you could travel free by plane, car, bus or bike. It would also mean that we would all have more money.

T-shirt campaign design idea 3 -

An idea that i have had to make people smile is free chocolatte. There were people doing this the other day next to the grafton giving out free aero mint bars. Not only was this making people smile but it was also advertising the chocolate.

Print on demand is where you can go on a website and pick a design that you like. They then make the t-shirt for you there and then so you have your own design.

Blood sweat and t-shirts

Here are two video’s which are about two clothes companies. I really like the video on the right because they actually go and investigate the problem, however on the other hand i do not like the video on the left because it is only adults sitting around a table discussing about the problem but not necessarily doing anything about it.

Here is a picture of us cutting out our stencil designs. We then placed our

finished stencils on-top of the silkscreens. We used the silkscreens so that the paint would not get onto the other bits of the t-shirt. We also used silkscreens because it is the technique

everyone uses to create t-shirts.

here is another picture of us painting our stencils onto our

t-shirts.
